Job description

Experteer Overview In this role you will apply and advance machine learning and statistical methods to process experimental data within the Field Intelligence Element. You will work closely with software engineers to transition research algorithms toward prototype deployment and support in-field integration and testing. The position emphasizes planning and collaboration to shape project direction while solving detection and classification problems. This opportunity lets you contribute to national security-focused research while working in a cross-disciplinary team. You will engage in travel to deploy and test sensor systems and collect data, enabling impactful real-world outcomes. Compensation / Benefits * Develop and apply new machine learning and statistical methods for processing experimental data * Maintain, enhance, and document existing statistical analysis methods * Collaborate with software engineers to transition algorithms to prototype-ready deployment * Assist in long-term project planning and scope when opportunities arise * Support in-field integration, testing, and operational deployment of new algorithms * Conduct testing and evaluation of algorithms based on theory and experiments * Travel up to 15% domestically and internationally for deployment and data collection Tasks * Graduate degree in physics or physical chemistry with experience in advanced statistical data analysis * Familiarity with machine learning techniques for limited training data * Proficiency in Python and R * Familiarity with nuclear physics and gamma spectroscopy * Knowledge of Bayesian and frequentist statistical concepts * Experience applying statistics to detection/classification problems * U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain/maintain security clearance Key requirements *
