Job description

As a Software Engineer III, you will design, develop, and maintain automation, tooling, and platform solutions that improve reliability, efficiency, and scalability. You will collaborate with engineers, product partners, and stakeholders to support application deployment, troubleshoot complex issues, implement preventive improvements, and drive operational excellence. You will leverage modern development practices, cloud technologies, and AI-powered solutions to automate processes, enhance observability, and accelerate issue resolution. This role requires strong problem-solving skills, a focus on continuous improvement, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, agile environment.

About the team:

The team delivers DevOps, production support, and operational excellence services for Walmart Business, focusing on small and medium-sized business customers. It ensures the reliability, security, scalability, and compliance of critical applications while enabling rapid delivery of new capabilities. Managing the software delivery lifecycle, the team upholds governance and quality standards for releases and deployments. It continuously monitors production environments to maintain stability, proactively addresses risks, and coordinates cross-functional efforts to resolve issues. Leveraging Generative AI and agile practices, the team drives technical excellence and delivers scalable, high-quality solutions.

What you’ll do:

  • Develop and maintain automation, tooling, and platform solutions that improve operational efficiency and reliability.
  • Support application deployments and release activities while ensuring compliance with SDLC, security, and quality standards.
  • Monitor production environments, troubleshoot incidents, and implement corrective actions to minimize customer impact.
  • Perform root cause analysis and drive continuous improvements that enhance platform stability and resilience.
  • Collaborate with engineering, product, and business teams to deliver operational excellence.
  • Leverage observability tools, cloud technologies, and Generative AI to automate processes, accelerate issue resolution, and improve operational insights.

Requirements

  • Strong experience designing and implementing automation, tooling, and platform solutions that improve reliability, scalability, and operational efficiency.
  • Expertise in CI/CD pipelines, release management, and modern software delivery practices.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot complex production issues, perform root cause analysis, and drive long-term corrective actions.
  • Experience with observability, monitoring, alerting, and incident management in large-scale distributed environments.
  • Proficiency in cloud technologies, scripting, and software engineering best practices.
  • Ability to lead technical initiatives, collaborate across teams, and influence operational excellence outcomes.
  • Passion for continuous improvement and leveraging Generative AI and emerging technologies to automate processes and enhance operational capabilities., Outlined below are the required minimum qualifications for this position. If none are listed, there are no minimum qualifications.

Option 1: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 2 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.

Bentonville, Arkansas US-09158: The annual salary range for this position is $90,000.00 - $180,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include :
