Job description

The Client is seeking an experienced Programmer - Advanced to support ongoing development and maintenance of the Medicaid Management Information System (MMIS). This role involves production support, system enhancements, and participation in new initiatives scheduled for the 2026 fiscal year, including DASH, Disaster Recovery projects, EPS, and other Medicaid-related systems. The candidate will work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment alongside state employees and contracted technical teams, supporting mission-critical Medicaid services. Scope of Work

  • Provide backfill support for existing production systems.
  • Work on smaller short-term projects and enhancements as required.
  • Participate in on-call rotation to support production systems.
  • Collaborate closely with customers, development teams, operations staff, and QA teams.
  • Support new MMIS initiatives and system modernization efforts., * Develop, modify, and maintain COBOL and ADS programs on mainframe systems.
  • Work with IDMS Network and IDMS Relational Databases.
  • Write and maintain JCL for batch processing.
  • Analyze technical and design specifications and implement required coding changes.
  • Perform debugging, unit testing, and integration testing.
  • Support QA, User Acceptance Testing (UAT), and external testing by resolving defects and making required code changes.
  • Communicate effectively with internal teams and stakeholders, both verbally and in writing.
  • Collaborate with Clemson staff and other contracted resources.
  • Ensure timely delivery while maintaining high quality and system stability.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience with Mainframe programming
  • 5+ years of experience with MVS COBOL
  • 5+ years of experience with JCL
  • 5+ years of experience with IDMS (Network and/or Relational Database)
  • Strong understanding of production support and batch processing environments
