Network Architect - Consultant

The Client is seeking an experienced Network Architect - Consultant with strong expertise in backup, storage, virtualization, and disaster recovery environments within PCI, NIST, and PUB1075 regulated infrastructures. The consultant will support enterprise-level backup, storage, and virtualization platforms and collaborate closely with infrastructure and security teams to ensure system stability, integrity, and compliance. This role includes shared 24/7 on-call responsibilities., * Communicate effectively with IT professionals ranging from peer to Director level

• Demonstrate strong initiative, ownership, and self-starter mentality
• Proactively identify, communicate, and implement process improvements
• Manage multiple tasks concurrently and provide regular status updates to stakeholders
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve issues and improve service delivery
• Maintain professionalism, strong customer service, and timely communication
• Accurately document and manage incidents and requests within the Helpdesk system

Technical Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and resolve backup configuration and recovery issues
• Design, implement, and support enterprise backup, storage, and virtualization environments
• Administer Microsoft Storage Spaces Direct (S2D) hardware and software
• Manage Microsoft Hyper-V hosts and virtual machines
• Administer and support Veeam backup solutions, including restore operations
• Monitor backup infrastructure performance, security, and reliability
• Support disaster recovery and failover scenarios
• Perform hardware and software upgrades and system enhancements
• Ensure compliance with corporate and regulatory information security standards
• Stay current with emerging infrastructure and networking technologies

• 3+ years of experience with networking protocols including TCP/IP, HTTP, DNS, MLLP, NDMP, and NTP
• 3+ years of experience administering Microsoft Storage Spaces Direct (S2D)
• 3+ years of experience with Veeam backup software
• 3+ years of experience managing Microsoft Hyper-V hosts and virtual machines
• 3+ years of experience working with PCI and NIST regulations, implementations, or audits
• 3+ years of experience with Change Management processes
• 3+ years of experience supporting Disaster Recovery environments
• 3+ years of experience configuring and troubleshooting VMware environments

Preferred Skills

• STIG Hardening experience
• Experience with PUB1075 regulatory compliance
• Hybrid Cloud Architecture experience
• Hyperconverged Infrastructure experience
• Shell scripting skills
• Industry certifications such as MCP, MCSE, VMware, or Veeam

Education Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology Systems, Computer Science, or related field with 2+ years of IT systems experience
