Job description
The foundations of the digital paradigm are now largely installed. What becomes interesting from here is not the technology itself, but what is built on top of those foundations. Digital technologies reduced the marginal costs of producing and delivering services, executing transactions and reaching global markets. AI extends this shift by dramatically reducing the cost of creation. Together, these technologies establish a new socio-economic logic where competitive advantage increasingly comes from enabling participation rather than controlling resources.
As the payments foundation of ING, PSS is evolving from a service-provider organisation towards a platform organisation that enables payment capabilities to continuously evolve alongside the needs of ING, its customers and its ecosystem. Rather than creating value solely through internal delivery, the platform exposes shared capabilities that others can build upon. It provides the tools and rules that enable participants to adapt those capabilities to their own context while contributing to the platform’s evolution. In doing so, PSS creates the foundation for how payment capabilities will be developed and extended across ING.
The team
Within PSS Architecture, we are shaping the vision and operating model for the PSS Platform, enabling the evolution of PSS towards a platform organisation where shared capabilities become the foundation for participation and future value creation.
Our objectives reflect three dimensions of this evolution:
- Define the PSS Platform.
- Translate it into each PSS service area.
- Establish the foundations for its continued evolution.
As PSS Platform Architect, you will contribute to the third objective by designing and evolving the knowledge environment that enables the platform strategy to scale across PSS.
Roles and responsibilities
As Platform Architect, you:

- Capture and consolidate outcomes from Platform Workshops into reusable artefacts.
- Maintain and continuously improve the Platform Workshop materials.
- Maintain and improve the PSS Architecture page and documentation.
- Ensure architectural knowledge remains current and easily discoverable.
- Establish best practices for managing knowledge in a way that is both human- and AI-consumable.
How to succeed
We hire smart people like you for your potential. Our biggest expectation is that you’ll stay curious. Keep learning. Take ownership. In return, we’ll support you in developing into an even stronger architect.
Requirements
- Have strong analytical and organisational skills.
