Job description

We are seeking an experienced Senior Epic Developer / Senior Epic Systems Analyst with 7 to 10 years of experience to lead the architecture, build, integration, and optimization of our Epic Electronic Health Record (EHR) ecosystem.

In this senior-level role, you will bridge the gap between clinical workflows, enterprise data architectures, and third-party healthcare systems. You will be responsible for leading complex build initiatives, configuring advanced Epic modules, designing custom interfaces, developing data pipelines (Clarity/Caboodle), and serving as a technical mentor for junior analysts and developers., * Lead end-to-end design, configuration, build, and optimization across core Epic modules (e.g., Inpatient, Ambulatory, Willow, Radiant, OpTime, Bridges).

  • Design and execute complex system updates, application upgrades, and specialized technical configurations in accordance with change control standards.
  • Architect custom workflows, rules, and extensions using Epic build tools (e.g., Chronicles, Hyperspace, Rules Engine, SmartForms, and Extension records)., * Build, maintain, and troubleshoot complex HL7 and FHIR interface integrations via Epic Bridges or enterprise integration engines (e.g., Cloverleaf, Corepoint).
  • Author complex SQL queries, views, and data pipelines from scratch using Epic Clarity and Caboodle data models.
  • Build, tune, and deploy advanced reporting solutions utilizing Reporting Workbench and SlicerDicer.

System Testing & Support

  • Lead comprehensive system testing strategies, including unit, integration, user acceptance (UAT), and regression testing prior to production releases.
  • Serve as a Level 3 technical escalation point for complex, high-priority system incidents, root-cause analyses, and performance issues., * Translate complex clinical, operational, and regulatory requirements into technical design specifications.
  • Mentor and guide junior and mid-level Epic analysts and developers on coding standards, system build, and troubleshooting best practices.
  • Collaborate with clinical informatics, compliance teams, vendor engineers, and executive leadership to align system enhancements with organizational goals.

Requirements

  • 7-10+ years of dedicated experience working in an Epic EHR development, analysis, or integration environment.
  • Proven track record of leading at least two full-lifecycle Epic implementations, major upgrades, or enterprise-scale module rollouts., * Active Epic Certification(s) in one or more primary application modules (e.g., EpicCare Ambulatory, EpicCare Inpatient, Bridges, Clarity/Caboodle, Willow, Cogito).

Technical Skills

  • Database & Query Languages: Advanced SQL proficiency across Epic Clarity and Caboodle databases.
  • Integration Standards: Deep knowledge of HL7 v2/v3, FHIR APIs, JSON/RESTful web services, and interface engines.
  • Programming / Scripting: Familiarity with programming concepts (e.g., M/MUMPS, C#, Python, or JavaScript) for custom interface and web service development.
  • Methodologies: Strong experience with ITIL incident management frameworks and Agile/Scrum delivery pipelines., * Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Health Informatics, Information Technology, or a related clinical field (or equivalent combination of education and extensive clinical IT experience)., * Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform) hosting Epic environments.
  • Background in healthcare compliance, HIPAA data privacy regulations, and clinical workflows.
