Job description

Hays Education are working in partnership with a large and successful education organisation in West Yorkshire to recruit an experienced ICT Technician. This is an exciting opportunity to join a forward-thinking organisation that supports multiple schools across the region and is committed to delivering high-quality education through reliable and innovative technology services. The role will initially be on an interim basis from 24th August 2026, with the potential to become permanent or continue until a permanent appointment is made.

Your new role

As an ICT Technician, you will provide a high-quality first-line support service to staff and students across 2 high schools and 3 primaries within the Wakefield area. You will be responsible for resolving ICT helpdesk tickets, supporting users with hardware and software issues, and ensuring technology remains operational to support teaching and learning.Key responsibilities will include:

  • Providing first-line technical support for devices, software, user accounts, printers and classroom technology.
  • Diagnosing and resolving hardware, software and network-related issues.
  • Installing, configuring and maintaining ICT equipment.
  • Creating and administering user accounts within Active Directory and Microsoft 365 environments.
  • Supporting device imaging, deployments and upgrades.
  • Assisting with classroom audio-visual technology.
  • Carrying out routine maintenance and ensuring ICT equipment remains fully operational.
  • Maintaining accurate records within the ICT helpdesk and asset management systems.
  • Escalating complex issues where required and supporting wider ICT projects.
  • Travelling between multiple education sites within the Wakefield area to provide support

Requirements

  • Previous experience working in an ICT Support, Service Desk or ICT Technician role.
  • Strong knowledge of Windows operating systems, Microsoft 365 and common ICT hardware.
  • Experience of Active Directory administration and user account management.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • A proactive and customer-focused approach to support.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
  • The ability to prioritise workload within a busy environment.
  • Experience supporting schools, colleges or education environments would be highly advantageous.
  • A valid Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
