Role Description As an Automotive Technical Support Specialist, you will provide front-line technical advice and guidance to IGA members across the retail motor sector. In this full-time, on-site role based in Coventry, you will handle incoming technical queries by phone and email, diagnose issues, and recommend practical solutions related to vehicles, repairs, diagnostics, and industry standards. You will research complex technical problems, interpret technical documentation, and keep up to date with manufacturer bulletins, regulations, and best practices. The role includes documenting case resolutions, contributing to technical knowledge bases, and supporting the production of technical bulletins or guidance notes for members.
Requirements
QualificationsStrong automotive technical knowledge, including vehicle diagnostics, repair methods, and familiarity with manufacturer and industry standards.Experience providing technical support or advisory services, ideally within workshops, dealerships, technical helplines, or similar environments.Ability to interpret technical data, wiring diagrams, service bulletins, and repair manuals, and to translate these into clear guidance for others.Excellent communication and customer service skills, with the ability to explain complex technical issues in clear, accessible language.Proficient in using computer-based diagnostic tools, standard office software, and CRM or ticketing systems for managing member queries.Relevant technical qualification in automotive engineering, vehicle maintenance, or a related field (e.g., NVQ, City & Guilds, IMI, or equivalent experience).Strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and a methodical approach to investigating and resolving member issues.Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage workload effectively in a busy support setting.Up-to-date awareness of UK automotive regulations, MOT and repair standards, and industry trends
