Requirements

  • Strong Python skills and experience with ML frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow, or similar)
  • Comfortable working with large datasets and SQL-based systems
  • A research mindset - happy figuring things out in an early-stage, evolving environment
  • Independent and confident driving your own projects (technical support available, but this isn’t a heavily structured/managed environment)
  • 3+ years’ experience - but they care far more about mindset and ability than years on paper

Nice to have:

  • Background in security, fraud detection, bot detection or traffic analysis
  • Exposure to LLMs/generative AI
  • Cloud data tooling (BigQuery, Spark, Airflow)

About the company

We’re working with a fast-growing, well-funded cybersecurity company building AI-powered threat detection into their core security infrastructure.

This is a genuinely greenfield opportunity - you’ll be the second person on the AI team, working directly alongside the Head of AI to design and build ML models that detect malicious traffic and bot behaviour from real production data (network activity, traffic patterns, firewall signals).

What you’ll be doing:

  • Researching and designing ML models to identify malicious/bot traffic patterns
  • Working with large volumes of real web traffic and network data
  • Building models from scratch - no legacy debt, no rigid tooling requirements
  • Owning your area end-to-end as an individual contributor (no management overhead)
