Job description

Our client is seeking a Database Administrator (Oracle & SQL Server) to support and maintain critical database environments underpinning trading, risk, and back-office systems. The ideal candidate is a strong troubleshooter who takes ownership of issues through to resolution. This is a hybrid position based in Fairfield County, Connecticut. Database Administrator (Oracle & SQL Server)’s Responsibilities and Duties:

Administer, maintain, and monitor production and non-production Oracle and SQL Server environments
Perform SQL query tuning and optimization, including execution plan analysis, indexing strategy, and statistics management
Troubleshoot incidents, perform root-cause analysis, and resolve performance, connectivity, and availability issues
Manage backup, recovery, and disaster recovery processes, including regular DR testing

Requirements

Database Administrator (Oracle & SQL Server)’s Qualifications and Skills:

At least 5 years of hands-on experience administering both Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server in production environments
Demonstrated expertise in SQL tuning and optimization, including execution plan analysis, index design, and query refactoring
Solid understanding of backup and recovery, high availability, and replication technologies (Data Guard, RAC, Always On Availability Groups, log shipping)
Experience with database security administration, patching, and upgrade lifecycle management
Proficiency in scripting for automation (PowerShell, Python, shell scripting, T-SQL, PL/SQL)
