Job description

Employees will assist Communications and Network Services staff in managing and organizing campus technology equipment. Their duties include cleaning, safely handling, and relocating devices around campus, as well as installing, configuring, and properly setting up computers, printers, and peripherals. They will ensure all equipment is correctly labeled and cataloged, support inventory tracking, and help keep records up to date in asset management systems to promote accountability and efficient resource use.

Additionally, employees may offer basic troubleshooting assistance under the guidance of technicians, prepare equipment for deployment, and assist with imaging, software updates, and system testing to ensure devices are operational. They will also identify and report damaged or outdated equipment and support recycling or replacement efforts as necessary.

*This is a temporary part-time position.

Examples of Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assist Communications and Network Services staff with maintaining and organizing desktop and laptop computers across campus locations.

  • Support technicians with installation and maintenance tasks in offices, classrooms, and labs.

  • Perform organizational tasks related to technology equipment and workspaces.

  • Maintain accurate records and assist with data entry and record-keeping.

  • Clean, move, and sort computer equipment and accessories.

  • Label equipment to ensure proper identification and tracking.

  • Update inventory and equipment records as directed.

  • Follow instructions provided by technicians or specialists.

  • Work collaboratively with Communications and Network Services staff to complete assigned tasks.

  • Ask questions and seek guidance to ensure tasks are completed correctly.

  • Report to the Communications and Network Services department based on the assigned schedule and availability.

  • Maintain a professional and safety-conscious work environment.

This position involves primarily sedentary work, including prolonged periods of computer use and keyboarding. The role requires the ability to communicate effectively in verbal and written form. The position may involve occasionally lifting or moving items up to 10 pounds. Work is performed in a typical office environment with no adverse conditions. Occasional travel between campus buildings or to other local or out-of-town locations for meetings or conferences may be required.

Prohibition of Remote Work Outside New York State: Remote work locations outside New York State are not authorized by the College due to out-of-state tax and regulatory implications. In limited circumstances, prompted by business or operational needs, the College may approve requests to work remotely outside of New York State, on a short term, temporary basis.

Requirements

  • Earned an Associate’s degree in Information Technology or a related field from a regionally accredited higher education institution, + Earned a Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or a related field from a regionally accredited higher education institution

  • Bilingual and able to read, write, and speak Spanish, or other languages, proficiently
