Job description

As a Senior Software Test Automation Engineer, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:

  • Designing, coding, and maintaining automated tests for server-side software components, APIs, services, and integrations.

  • Developing and enhancing reusable automation frameworks, test utilities, mock services, and validation tools.

  • Appling security best practices, including encryption and secure communications, across system design and implementation.

  • Troubleshooting and optimizing software performance, reliability, and interoperability across hardware and software interfaces.

  • Identifying, documenting, troubleshooting, and tracking software defects in collaboration with development teams.

  • Providing technical leadership on a cross-functional team and contribute to engineering best practices appropriate for a mid-senior level role., All US-based 3M full time employees will need to sign an employee agreement as a condition of employment with 3M. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Electrical Engineeringor a related technical field (completed and verified prior to start)from an accredited institution.

  • Seven (7) years of software development experience including coding automated tests for server-side or backend software systemsin a private, public, government or military environment

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering or a related technical field (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution.

  • Experience testing APIs, services, databases, and distributed software systems.

  • Have a working knowledge of industrial automation protocols such as CIP, OPC-UA, and MQTT.

  • Experience with C/C++ and embedded applications.

  • Understanding of low-latency, time-critical network communications over Wi-Fi

  • Ability to work effectively across a broad technology stack and to coordinate with external development resources.

  • Proficiency with AI software development tools

Work location:

  • Work location: This role follows an on-site working model, requiring the employee to work at least four days a week at the 3M Center in Maplewood, MN.

Applicable to US Applicants Only:The expected compensation range for this position is $145,676 - $178,049, which includes base pay plus variable incentive pay, if eligible. This range represents a good faith estimate for this position. The specific compensation offered to a candidate may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s relevant knowledge, training, skills, work location, and/or experience.
