Job description

In this role you will be a part of the U.S. Coast Guard headquarters team that provides policy and security program support for the security and resilience of critical USCG missions, infrastructures, and assets. In this high visibility, demanding role you’ll have the opportunity to provide advisory, analytical, and physical security support for the USCG’s worldwide operations and key national security missions. You’ll work across teams and integrate with other disciplines and teams for mission protection and success.

In this role you will…

  • Advise and analyze physical security policy from Executive Orders, DHS directives, and DoD mandates.
  • Support security planning for all USCG facilities, infrastructure, and assets.
  • Perform vulnerability assessments to identify threats, risks, and countermeasures.
  • Conduct Staff Assistance Visits around the country to assess USCG field unit security compliance Develop physical security training and awareness products.
  • Prepare comprehensive recommendations, reports, letters, and regulatory documents.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of direct relevant physical security experience at the equivalent of a military service headquarters level.
  • Experience with the following:
  • Physical access control systems design and management
  • Identity and credential management (ICAM) programs
  • Critical asset protection and security engineering design
  • Interagency Security Committee risk management
  • Technical writing of USCG policies, TTPs, job aids, and reports for varied audiences
  • Demonstrated customer service, technical writing and editing, and interpersonal skills, * Bachelor’s degree in security-related discipline and five years direct relevant experience; or
  • 10 years of directly relevant experience (may substitute for degree)

Security Clearance Requirements:

  • Secret Clearance
  • Ability to pass DHS security requirements to obtain an ID card and for handling Controlled Unclassified Information

Desirable/Other Qualifications:

  • Prior USCG or DHS security program experience
  • Interagency Security Committee Experience
  • Homeland defense, homeland security, Defense Support for Civil Authorities, antiterrorism/force protection, or law enforcement background

Travel Requirement:

  • Less than 10%

Other Requirements:

  • May be required to move equipment/files weighing up to 50 pounds
  • May require sedentary work at least 50% of the time
  • Reports to a physical location which occasionally requires the ability to traverse between buildings
  • Ability to manage stress with a high degree of maturity/professionalism
  • Demonstrated critical thinking and leadership skills and the ability to work well with others
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills

Multiple considerations are taken into account when determining the final salary/hour rate, including but not limited to, Contract Wage Determination, education and certifications, relevant work experience, related skills and competencies, as well as Federal Government Contract Labor categories.
