Job description

We are looking for an Education Center Technical Support Specialist for a part time role at Barksdale AFB in Lousianna. This role will provide technical support to the Base Training and Education Services organization (BTES). This is a 5.5 year contract, 20 hour/week onsite at Barksdale AFB, LA. The onsite schedule will be determined in advance, on a monthly basis. Candidates MUST be US citizens. This is a w2 role with Stage 4 Solutions, health benefits, and 401K offered. Responsibilities:

  • Provide hardware and software system administration in all offices, classroom and testing computers, servers, fax machines, satellite receivers, switches, routers, printers and other peripherals critical to proper function of Barksdale AFB Base Training and Education Services organization (BTES) technology systems. Accounts for all equipment from receipt to disposal on BTES technology inventory using Base Equipment Communication Office (BECO) provided products.
  • Provide maintenance on Barksdale AFB BTES Sharepoint Site. Update links, build pages, link appropriate documents and databases, manage layout and meet any other requirements specified by the BTES team leader to ensure quality of Web Page and its integration with the Air Force Global Strike Command (AFGSC) BTES web site.
  • Implement any new systems (software/hardware) as required by the BTES team leader. Set up new testing computers and other information systems in a timely manner to support gradual improvement of the BTES facility. Installation includes running cables in ceilings, baseboards and walls from a central location.
  • Provide all networking architecture recommendations and networking support to improve BTES network as directed by the BTES team leader. Develop blueprints in support of new facilities and maintain blueprints of current facilities.
  • Establish/Follow procedures for safeguarding all critical data. Maintain/operate video surveillance system, to include install server, switches, cameras, and associated software programs to operate. Maintain at least 45 days of recordings. Provide technical assistance to legal entities in providing A/V recordings.
  • Develop tracking systems to (including all required documentation) monitor all information systems. Establish diagram of facility with associated database to track fixes and implementation of information systems.
  • Provide for safe migration of important data from one system to another. Install and maintain Education Center primary database. Conduct upgrades to database and provide training to BTES personnel. Reviews building security procedures and changes combinations on entryway cyber locks at least annually or as needed. Instructs BTES personnel on programing all secure storage container lock mechanisms (xo7/x08). Moves safes as required.
  • Provide recommendations to director of facility for future planning and improvements to existing information systems structure. Provide technical assistance to BTES team leader for all aspects of communications to include phone, computer and surveillance security systems to meet DoD/AF requirements.
  • Assist director in research and purchase of all computer systems and components required to improve existing structure using GSA Advantage. Must maintain and execute computer refresh schedule.
  • Provide for proper information security on all systems. Educate personnel on proper security procedures to protect sensitive data and records.
  • Train/Assist office personnel on software required for them to efficiently execute their jobs.
  • Physically and visually perform annual inventory of assigned computer systems and peripherals. Accomplish equipment inventory during the designated period for completion.
  • Program, maintain, and execute refresh of assigned computer systems and peripherals on a designated rotating schedule. Provide scheduled replacement of systems and peripherals when requested.
  • Maintain, operate, and schedule Defense Education Training Network (DETN) satellite training system. DETN systems must be operable and scheduled for use when needed or requested. Annual Training accomplished on time.
  • Monitor, operate, and maintain the Quality-of-Life Network (QOLNET) within the Education Services facilities. Requirements

  • 2 5 years of experience supporting both hardware and software applications used by the BTES (Base Training and Education Services organization), with working knowledge of foreign-language and Professional Military Education (PME) testing.
  • Experience with Windows Enterprise 10 & 11, Microsoft 365 Office Enterprise, BECO products.
  • Customer service skills and verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of and experience with Air Force computer/network security regulations MUST.
  • Knowledge and performance of standard installation practices for electronic equipment for network and video surveillance systems.
  • Current COMPTIA A+ and Network+ certification (MUST).
  • US Citizen (MUST)
