Component-Based Software Engineering Design of User Interfaces Figma

Job description

We are looking for a talented and experienced UI/UX Artist to join our Art Team and help shape the player experience. In this role, you will combine strong visual design and UX expertise with hands-on Unity knowledge to create intuitive, polished interfaces and bring them from Figma into the final game.

You will work on a complex, systems-heavy strategy game and have the opportunity to create UI within the distinctive visual universe of Warhammer 40K, while taking ownership of UI quality throughout the full production process-early flows and mockups to in-engine implementation and visual QA., * Design and deliver cross-platform UI/UX solutions that improve usability, clarity, and player engagement.

  • Transform game design briefs into intuitive user flows, wireframes, mockups, and interactive prototypes.
  • Create visually appealing UI assets, including icons, layouts, components, and animations, while ensuring readability and consistency with the game’s visual direction.
  • Translate Figma designs into production-ready UI in Unity, including layouts, components and prefabs, responsive behaviour, states, text, sprites, and animations.
  • Design and implement responsive interfaces that work reliably across supported resolutions, aspect ratios, safe areas, and device classes.
  • Own the visual quality of UI from initial design through in-engine implementation, including visual QA and iteration in Unity.
  • Analyse existing interfaces and propose improvements to functionality, information hierarchy, usability, and aesthetics.
  • Build and maintain reusable UI components, design systems, guidelines, and best practices across Figma and Unity.
  • Collaborate closely with game designers, UX, developers, tech artists, and other artists to ensure design goals are technically feasible and implementation constraints are addressed early.
  • Contribute to improving the Figma-to-Unity production pipeline and reducing unnecessary development overhead for routine UI implementation.
  • Ensure final in-game interfaces accurately reflect approved designs in terms of layout, spacing, typography, assets, responsiveness, and interaction states.

Requirements

  • Minimum 4 years of experience in a UI/UX-related role in the mobile gaming industry or a similar field.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating expertise in interface design, visual hierarchy, interaction design, and UX principles, ideally for games or other complex digital products.
  • Proficient in Figma, with strong knowledge of component-based design systems, variants, reusable patterns, and scalable file organisation.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Unity UI and the ability to translate Figma designs into production-ready in-engine interfaces.
  • Experience working with UI layouts, prefabs or reusable components, anchors, responsive behaviour, text, sprites, UI states, and animations in Unity.
  • Strong understanding of the Figma-to-Unity workflow, including asset preparation, componentisation, scaling, resolution and aspect-ratio handling, and implementation constraints.
  • Good understanding of responsive UI principles, safe areas, layout scaling, and cross-device constraints.
  • Experience designing information-dense interfaces and complex interaction flows; experience with strategy, simulation, MMO, or other systems-heavy games is a strong plus.
  • Familiarity with or enthusiasm for the Warhammer 40K universe and its distinctive visual identity is a plus.
  • Excellent analytical and creative problem-solving skills, with the ability to balance visual quality, usability, and technical constraints.
  • Strong communication skills in English, with the ability to collaborate effectively in cross-functional and multicultural teams, including remote collaboration.
  • Passion for staying actively involved throughout development and taking ownership of the quality of the final player-facing experience.
