Job description
If you’re an experienced Test Development Engineer who enjoys building robust, scalable test solutions for complex electronic products, this role offers the chance to take real ownership of automated and manual test development across a growing manufacturing environment.
The Opportunity You’ll design, develop and improve production test systems for electronic assemblies and sub-systems, ensuring products are built correctly and perform reliably. The role blends hands-on engineering, software development, data analysis and cross-functional collaboration - ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, problem-solving environment.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Developing functional test solutions (hardware & software) for electronic assemblies and systems.
- Creating automated test programs using ATE platforms and writing/debugging production test software.
- Integrating and configuring electronic test instrumentation (oscilloscopes, DMMs, power supplies, loads, analysers).
- Producing and maintaining test documentation including test plans, SOPs and reports.
- Analysing production test data to identify trends, anomalies and opportunities for improvement.
- Working closely with manufacturing, design, quality and suppliers to resolve issues and improve test coverage.
- Supporting new product development with DfT/DfM input and prototype test fixture development.
- Improving test efficiency, reliability and throughput across production lines.
Requirements
Degree or equivalent experience in Electronic/Electrical Engineering.
- Strong hands-on experience with electronic test equipment (oscilloscopes, DMMs, power supplies, loads, signal generators).
- Experience with ATE systems and automated test development.
- Ability to write/debug test software (C/C++, C#, Python or similar).
- Solid understanding of analogue/digital electronics and fault-finding down to component level.
- Familiarity with communication protocols (SPI, I2C, RS-232/485, Ethernet).
- Experience with fault finding and rework
- Strong analytical mindset, resilience in a production environment, and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
Ideal For You If…
- You enjoy solving complex test challenges.
- You like working across engineering, manufacturing and suppliers.
- You want autonomy to improve test processes and influence product quality.
- You thrive in environments where quick problem-solving keeps production moving.
