Job description

We are seeking a Technical Officer (GIS & Spatial Data) to join a Local Authority team supporting a major Local Land Charges Migration Project. This is an exciting opportunity for a candidate with strong data management, GIS, mapping, or spatial data experience to contribute to a high-profile project involving the migration of Local Land Charges records to HM Land Registry. Data capture, validation, and quality assurance are essential aspects of this role., * Provide technical and administrative support to the Land Registry migration project.

  • Access, retrieve and update Local Land Charges and Land Registry records.
  • Research planning histories and investigate historical planning records.
  • Review archived and electronic planning documentation to verify spatial and property-related data.
  • Analyse and resolve data discrepancies relating to mapping information, property matching and historical address records.
  • Capture, validate and maintain spatial datasets to support migration activities.
  • Plot application boundaries and verify land parcel information using mapping tools.
  • Work across multiple systems, including planning and land charges databases.
  • Liaise with planning officers and internal stakeholders to resolve data-related queries.
  • Support data cleansing and quality assurance activities throughout the project lifecycle.

Requirements

  • Experience working with GIS, spatial mapping, geospatial data or property-based datasets.
  • Strong technical administration and data quality experience.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Experience investigating and resolving data discrepancies.
  • Strong analytical, research and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage workloads effectively and work independently when required.
  • Strong IT skills and experience working across multiple systems and databases.

Desirable:

  • Experience within a Local Authority, Planning, Land Charges or Property environment.
  • Experience working with the Uniform Planning System or similar databases.
  • GIS plotting and spatial data management experience.
  • Good Excel skills and experience managing large datasets.
