The result is better service reliability, increased ridership, and more efficient transit operations.Engineering at SwiftlyEngineering at Swiftly isn’t only about writing code. We build empowered product teams that shape new features together and bring them to life. Each team balances shipping incremental improvements, prototyping to reduce risk, and building software that scales. Our mission is to make transit better for riders, and we bring humility and intent to our technical decisions so we can meet our customers where they actually are.About The RoleYou’ll help build the software platform underneath Swiftly’s products during a period of real investment. Our near-term priorities: modernizing our cloud infrastructure, expanding into a second AWS region, standardizing observability, and making the systems that ingest real-time transit data from agencies more reliable. You’ll also own the foundation that lets Swiftly engineers work quickly and safely with AI, including visibility into how those tools are actually getting used. Over the next 6 to 12 months, we expect this to evolve into AI-assisted paths through our development lifecycle, supported by automated quality and security checks that ensure those paths are safe to merge. This is a platform role focused on infrastructure, tooling, safeguards, and developer experience. It’s also a cross-functional one. You’ll gather requirements from teams across the company, document decisions clearly, and build alignment well beyond your immediate team.Your work will help us hold a 99.9% uptime SLA, improve how we deploy and operate the platform, and keep Swiftly’s products reliable and available. This means that transit agencies can provide better service to riders. Please note:At this time, we are only considering applicants who reside in SpainResponsibilitiesDrive our migration to Amazon EKS by building reusable Kubernetes patterns for deployment, autoscaling, networking, and workload reliabilityExpand Swiftly into a new AWS region, designing for multi-region resilience, failover, and data residencyOwn and improve shared cloud infrastructure (load balancers, job schedulers, databases, and supporting services) and automate provisioning with Terraform, Ansible, or similarMake observability self-service by treating monitoring as code: versioned dashboards, alerts, and standardized OpenTelemetry instrumentation teams can reuseBuild and operate the AI platform layer for engineering: managed model access (Amazon Bedrock, for example) drives adoption with reusable tooling, templates, and documentation and measures the impact on developer velocityStrengthen our CI/CD pipelines and migrate workloads onto a consolidated CI platformDocument platform decisions clearly and build alignment across engineering, product, and go-to-market so the whole company knows what’s changing and whyWorking closely with product teams: joining their planning sessions, understanding what they’re building, and shaping platform work around what they actually needShare an on-call rotation for production systems, with a focus on cutting down repeat incidentsRequirementsExperience building and operating cloud infrastructure on a major cloud platform.
