Job description
Rate Range: $55/hour to $75/hour; The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors. Systems Engineer Job Responsibilities include: Lead functional safety test planning and validation activities to ensure compliance with safety requirements and industry standards. Conduct and facilitate safety analyses, including FMEA, Hazard Analysis, and Fault Tree Analysis, to identify and mitigate system risks. Develop test cases for safety-critical vehicle functions based on functional and technical requirements. Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to coordinate safety validation efforts and drive issue resolution. Prepare and present technical reports, safety assessments, and project updates to stakeholders and leadership teams. Support the development and improvement of functional safety processes, methodologies, and best practices in accordance with ISO 26262.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Computer Science, Automotive Engineering, or a related technical field; master’s degree preferred. Minimum 5 years of experience in the heavy-duty truck or automotive industry, including 3+ years of functional safety engineering experience. Strong knowledge of ISO 26262, Functional Safety principles, and safety analysis techniques such as FMEA, Hazard Analysis, and Fault Tree Analysis. Experience with vehicle integration, testing, CAN/J1939 communication protocols, and the development of safety-critical systems in automotive or commercial vehicle environments.
