Job description

Schaeffler Motion Technologies USA, LLC seeks a Senior Systems Engineer in Auburn Hills, MI responsible for the technical development of inductive sensors, ensuring proper fulfillment of customer requirements. Define the product architecture, including mechanical, electrical and software disciplines. Analyze, decompose, and classify customer specifications and system requirements documents. Ensure traceability and verification of requirements throughout the system lifecycle. Define calibration parameters to guarantee product performance within defined operational performance criteria. Develop test plans and test procedures for system validation and verification. Conduct validation and reliability testing to ensure compliance with product lifetime and requirements. Support the design, development, and qualification of laboratory and manufacturing test stands for production and quality assurance. Develop and support Design Verification (DV) and Product Verification (PV) lab test stands. Provide technical support for failure analysis of warranty parts and plant rejects, and for Series Production Product Change Management.

Requirements

Qualified applicants must have a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Mechatronic Engineering.

Qualified applicants must have two (2) years of experience as a Systems Engineer or in substantially similar position performing the following duties: 1) Designing and developing automotive-grade products, including electrical and mechanical drawings, schematics, and systems architectures; 2) Conducting risk assessments using Design Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (DFMEA); 3) Developing and documenting test cases and test plans; 4) Working with electronics laboratory equipment and instrumentation, including scope, power supplies, vector network analyzers, and data acquisition systems; 5) Working in the development of functional safety products and executing automotive product validations during Design Verification (DV) and Production Validation (PV) phases.

10% domestic and international travel required to visit customer sites for workshops and project discussions.
