Job description

Kforce has a client that is seeking a Software Engineer in Blacksburg, VA., We are seeking Software Engineers to support a Fleet Operations and Enablement team in building automated HD map-to-simulation pipelines for autonomous vehicle development. The Engineers will help eliminate manual map-staging processes by developing production-ready middleware, APIs, and automation that ingest HD map updates, transform them into simulation-ready formats, and automatically trigger large-scale regression testing., * Design and build middleware, APIs, and automated pipelines to ingest and transform HD mapping data for simulation

  • Replace manual map-staging workflows with scalable, reliable automation
  • Build and enhance continuous simulation regression testing triggered by map updates
  • Develop tooling to detect structural map changes such as lane modifications, geometry changes, and construction zones
  • Connect identified map changes to applicable simulation scenarios and automated test execution
  • Develop production-quality, maintainable software with appropriate testing, documentation, and system architecture
  • Partner with engineering teams across mapping, simulation, fleet operations, and autonomous vehicle development

Requirements

  • Target Background
  • Strong hands-on software engineering experience building production applications, backend services, APIs, or platform tooling
  • Experience developing automated data ingestion, transformation, or processing pipelines
  • Experience with mapping, geospatial/spatial data, routing, simulation, robotics, autonomous vehicles, or similarly complex data environments
  • Experience with automated testing, regression frameworks, CI/CD, or simulation/test orchestration
  • Strong understanding of software design, system integration, debugging, reliability, and scalability
  • Comfortable operating in a cloud-based engineering environment

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
