Job description
As Chief Information Security Officer (CISO), you will be fully responsible for defining, implementing, monitoring, and continuously improving the organization’s information security strategy. You ensure robust protection against internal and external threats while embedding security into core operations and decision-making processes. You report directly to executive leadership and lead cybersecurity resources. In addition, you act as a key advisor to stakeholders across the organization, driving security priorities and best practices. Strategy, Governance & Risk Management
- Define, implement, and maintain information security policies, procedures, and guidelines
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards (e.g., GDPR, NIS2, ISO/IEC 27001)
- Conduct risk and impact assessments and translate findings into clear mitigation plans and priorities
- Develop and maintain a realistic and actionable security roadmap
Incident Management & Business Continuity
- Lead the incident response process end-to-end, including detection, analysis, containment, recovery, and reporting
- Coordinate forensic investigations where required
- Ensure corrective and preventive actions are properly defined, implemented, and monitored
Awareness & Security Culture
- Build and promote a strong security culture across the organization
- Design and deliver training and awareness programs for employees and stakeholders
- Measure effectiveness and continuously improve awareness initiatives
Architecture, Technology & Processes
- Oversee the development and management of the security architecture (network, application, and data security)
- Select and implement appropriate security tools and technologies
- Establish sustainable processes (e.g., Identity & Access Management) to ensure long-term security resilience
Compliance, Audit & Reporting
- Coordinate internal and external audits and ensure continuous compliance with security standards
- Provide clear and structured reporting to executive leadership, auditors, and regulatory bodies
- Identify improvement areas to enhance overall security maturity
Stakeholder Management & Collaboration
- Act as the central point of contact for information security topics
- Collaborate closely with IT, Legal, HR, and operational teams to embed security across the organization
- Maintain relationships with external partners and regulatory authorities
Requirements
- Proven experience in a senior information security leadership role (CISO or equivalent)
- Strong expertise in cybersecurity governance, risk management, and compliance frameworks
- Experience in regulated environments is a strong advantage
- Ability to translate complex security topics into business-relevant strategies and actions
- Strong leadership presence and stakeholder management skills
Languages
- Native proficiency in either Dutch or French
- Good understanding (reading and comprehension) of the second national language
- Professional proficiency in English
