Advanced Software Architect

• Collaborate with product managers, UX designers and engineering leaders to understand project requirements and business objectives.
• Design and develop a robust component architecture for the designer tool, creating reusable, modular UI components that adhere to best practices in JavaScript development. Ensure these components are optimized for performance and can be easily integrated and extended by other team members.
• Additional key responsibilities include designing system architecture, code review, technical documentation, and collaborating with product teams to align technical solutions with business requirements.
• Provide technical leadership and guidance to product teams, ensuring that architectural decisions are well-understood and implemented.
• Share ownership of roadmap execution, architecture decisions, and day-to-day technical operations related to the AI and Services platform.
• Act as a key technical liaison between the AI and Services platform team and product stakeholders - translating business and product requirements into scalable technical designs, and clearly communicating technical tradeoffs back to non-technical stakeholders.
• Guide the framework and services/microservices architecture underlying the AI and Services platform, ensuring services are well-decomposed, resilient, and built for extensibility as new AI-driven capabilities are added.
• Partner with AI/ML engineers and product teams to integrate AI and agentic capabilities (e.g., orchestration, natural-language interfaces, connector/MCP-style integrations) into the platform, evaluating emerging AI tooling and frameworks for fit.
• Create and maintain documentation related to the software architecture, including system diagrams, design specifications, and best practices.
• Review code and provide feedback to ensure it adheres to the architectural standards, performance requirements, and coding best practices.
• Stay up-to-date on emerging technologies and industry trends - particularly in AI/agentic systems and microservices - to continuously improve software architecture and tools.
• Contribute to product decisions and help drive technical innovation within the team.

• Bachelor’s in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
• A U.S. citizen is required for this position.
• Ideally, with 10 to 15 years of professional experience as a software architect or a similar role.
• Proven leadership and mentoring skills, including experience sharing ownership of a platform or technical initiative alongside peer leaders.
• Proficiency in multiple programming languages and technologies.
• Proficiency in implementing best practices in JavaScript coding, performance optimization, and maintainability.
• Ability to provide technical leadership and mentorship to the UI engineering team.
• Experience in solving complex UI challenges, conducting code reviews, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
• Expertise in designing system architecture, technical documentation, and collaborating with product teams to align technical solutions with business requirements.
• Proficiency in creating reusable, modular UI components that adhere to best practices in JavaScript development.
• Experience in ensuring components are optimized for performance and can be easily integrated and extended by other team members.
• Strong knowledge of software architecture principles, design patterns, and best practices - particularly service-oriented and microservices architecture, and framework design for extensible platforms.
• Strong business acumen and comfort operating as a technical counterpart to product leadership - able to translate ambiguous business needs into clear technical plans and communicate architectural rationale to non-engineering audiences.
• Hands-on knowledge of or strong familiarity with AI/agentic technologies (e.g., LLM-based agents, orchestration frameworks, AI-assisted tooling) and how to apply them within a production platform.
• Experience with software development methodologies, such as Agile.
• Exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to analyze and address complex technical issues.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
• Previous experience with cloud computing platforms (OCI, AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) is a plus.
• Experience building cloud native applications, services-based architecture, DevOps principles, and continuous deployment.

The U.S. salary range for this position is $131,500.00-$231,750.00. This range is subject to change as Deltek takes a number of factors into consideration when determining individual base pay, such as location, job-related knowledge, skills and experience. Certain roles are eligible for additional rewards, including incentive compensation and equity.
