Network Engineer

Join NYSERDA as a Network Engineer and play a pivotal role in supporting and evolving our enterprise network infrastructure. This fully remote position is based out of Albany, NY, offering a unique opportunity to lead network connectivity initiatives that empower our teams, applications, and partners. You ll work on advanced technologies, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and directly impact the organization s mission. This role offers a 1-year contract, 37.5 hours per week, with competitive hourly rates. [Responsibilities]

• Manage, optimize, and troubleshoot LAN, SDWAN, and voice services across the enterprise network
• Design, implement, and document scalable IP network architectures and services
• Maintain up-to-date support and maintenance contracts for network hardware and software
• Provide technical leadership and training to IT support staff on voice MACD tasks
• Coordinate with server administrators at cloud facilities to ensure seamless network services
• Respond promptly to IT infrastructure issues via calls, emails, or pages and escalate as needed
• Operate network tools and peripherals, ensuring compliance with change management policies
• Accurately document all network changes in the change management database (CMDB)
• Schedule, manage, and support off-hours outages and planned maintenance
• Travel within New York State as necessary to support network and voice infrastructure in new construction and organizational growth projects

3 6 years hands-on experience with Cisco network and voice products

• In-depth understanding of network services such as DHCP and DNS
• Strong vendor management and oversight capabilities
• Analytical problem-solving skills and adaptability to changing priorities
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and deliver high-quality results
• Strong communication, organizational, and time-management skills
• Ability to work independently with confidentiality and professionalism

• Willingness to travel within New York State as needed [Preferred Skills]

• Experience with Extreme network equipment, Silverpeak/Aruba/HPE, and Cisco Meraki cloud platform
• Experience designing and installing networks in new construction environments
• Bachelor s degree in Computer Science or Associate s in STEM plus 1 2 years relevant experience
