Senior QA Automation Engineer :: Washington, DC (Remote)

Seeking for an Senior QA Automation Engineer to lead testing and quality engineering activities for complex, distributed, and cloud-based applications. This role will be responsible for defining test strategies, developing and executing functional and automated tests, supporting release readiness, and ensuring application quality throughout the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).

• Define and own comprehensive test strategies and automation approaches for enterprise and cloud-based applications.
• Lead functional, integration, regression, API, UI, and automated testing throughout the SDLC.
• Develop and maintain automated tests for unit, API, integration, and user-interface testing.
• Apply automation-first testing approaches and support Test-Driven Development (TDD) concepts.
• Develop regression strategies and establish testing criteria for release readiness.
• Test RESTful APIs, microservices, and serverless applications.
• Validate Kafka-based and other event-driven systems.
• Test cloud-based applications and data pipelines using technologies such as Dataflow, Pub/Sub, and Redis.
• Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines using tools like GitLab and Jenkins.
• Support quality engineering activities within DevSecOps/SecDevOps environments.
• Validate secure engineering requirements and security controls.
• Troubleshoot complex application issues using logs, metrics, and traces.
• Participate in defect triage, root-cause analysis, retesting, and regression validation.
• Validate application performance, reliability, concurrency, and observability requirements.
• Use programming/scripting languages such as Java, Python, JavaScript, and SQL for test automation.
• Support testing of containerized applications using Docker and Kubernetes.
• Collaborate with Engineering, QA, DevOps, Product, Security, and other stakeholders.
• Produce test results, evidence, and documentation suitable for audit or compliance reviews.

• 5-10 years of experience in software testing, quality engineering, or software development.
• Strong experience owning test strategy and automation for complex applications.
• Strong functional and automation testing experience throughout the SDLC.
• Experience defining regression testing and release-readiness strategies.
• Experience with automated testing tools covering unit, API, integration, and UI testing.
• Familiarity with TDD and automation-first testing approaches.
• Strong experience testing REST APIs, microservices, and API-centric architectures.
• Experience testing Kafka/event-driven and asynchronous processing workflows.
• Experience working with CI/CD pipelines, source-control systems, and build/deployment tooling.
• Experience working within DevSecOps/SecDevOps environments.
• Working knowledge of secure engineering practices and security-control validation.
• Technical fluency with one or more of Java, Python, JavaScript, and SQL.
