Job description
Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Principal Systems Engineer/Sr. Principal Systems Engineer . This opening is in Roy, UT and will support the Sentinel Program . Northrop Grumman supports the Air Force’s sustainment, development, production and deployment of hardware and system modifications for Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) Ground and Airborne Launch Control Systems, Launch Facilities, and associated infrastructure.
What you will get to do:
The successful candidate will support the team across the full systems-engineering life cycle, from use-case development through verification. You will collaborate closely with Integrated Product Team (IPT) counterparts to produce rigorous systems-engineering and design artifacts, working with technical teams and stakeholders to develop and mature a Weapon System design for a large-scale program. Your responsibilities will include defining, allocating, and tracing requirements; ensuring those requirements are accurately represented in the system model; performing functional decomposition and interface definition; and supporting verification activities.
In addition, the successful candidate will develop the system architecture using Cameo Enterprise Architecture, modeling behavioral, structural, and analytical aspects of the solution. You will contribute to ongoing requirements development, management, and analysis while establishing unifying modeling techniques, procedures, and processes that enable seamless model development, tool integration, and team collaboration.
Specific duties to include, but are not limited to the following:

Collaborate with program IPT counterparts to develop rigorous and proper systems engineering and design artifacts.

Use case development, requirements definition, requirements allocation, requirements traceability, functional decomposition, interface definition, verification.

Work with technical teams and stakeholders to develop and mature WS design of a large program.
-
Help develop and incorporate the appropriate requirements for the system and ensure that they are properly represented in the model.

Develop systems architecture using Cameo Enterprise Architecture (behavioral, structural, analytical).

Contribute to system requirements development, management, and analysis.

Develop unifying model techniques, procedures, and processes (for model development, tool integration, and team integration)
Requirements
Principal Systems Engineer:
-
Bachelor’s degree in STEM and 5 years of experience, 3 years of experience with master’s degree, 0 years of experience with PhD.
-
Must have an active U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance at time of application, current and within scope, with an investigation date within the last 6 years
-
Must have clearance with access to P011
-
1 year experience in team environments with technical leadership responsibilities
-
1 year of experience in Intercontinental Ballistic Missiles (ICBMs) (Minuteman III (MMIII) or Sentinel) OR complex aerospace/defense systems
-
1-2 years of experience in developing and executing Systems Engineering (SE) process governance documentation in a Department of Defense (DoD) Engineering and Manufacturing Development (EMD) phase
-
1-2 years of experience in creating, updating, and maintaining requirements specifications in Dynamic Object-Oriented Requirements System (DOORS)
-
1-2 years of experience on large scale / complex system development experience across multiple phases of a development program: preliminary design, detailed design, integration and test, verification and sell off, transition to production
-
1-2 years of experience in creating, updating, and maintaining Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) products
-
1-3 years of experience with Systems Engineering (SE) principles
Sr. Principal Systems Engineer:
-
Bachelor’s degree in STEM and 8 years of experience, 6 years of experience with master’s degree, 4 years of experience with PhD.

Must have an active U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance at time of application, current and within scope, with an investigation date within the last 6 years

Must have clearance with access to P011

3 years of experience in team environments with technical leadership responsibilities

4-5 years of experience in ICMBs (MMIII or Sentinel) OR complex aerospace/defense systems

4-5 years of experience in developing and executing SE process governance documentation in a DoD EMD phase
-
4-5 years of experience in creating, updating, and maintaining requirements specifications in DOORS
-
4-5 years of experience on large scale / complex system development experience across multiple phases of a development program: preliminary design, detailed design, integration and test, verification and sell off, transition to production
-
4-5 years of experience in creating, updating, and maintaining MBSE products
-
4-5 years of experience with SE principles
Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with Agile

Strong understanding and broad application of complex engineering systems (engineering standards, configuration management, material review board, process control, tooling, facilities, software, etc.) for the development of complex systems of systems

Strong oral and written communication skills, including demonstrated experience with high value customer presentations, with ability to focus on multiple projects with competing priorities

This position’s standard work schedule is 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

Primary Level Salary Range: $108,800.00 - $163,200.00
Secondary Level Salary Range: $135,800.00 - $203,600.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate’s experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
