Security Engineer

• 5+ years of hands-on experience supporting and engineering network firewalls in production environments
• Strong experience designing, implementing, and modifying firewall policies (rule creation, NAT, segmentation, and access controls)

• Demonstrated experience working across multiple firewall platforms, including:

• Check Point
• Palo Alto
• Open source firewall technologies (e.g., iptables, nftables, or similar)
• Experience executing firewall changes during network cutovers, migrations, or site deployments, including rapid testing and validation

• Proficiency with Linux systems, specifically Ubuntu, including:

• System administration fundamentals
• Network configuration and troubleshooting
• Ability to independently plan and execute firewall changes in environments with limited oversight
• Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams (network, infrastructure, and application teams) to deliver network security changes

Preferred Skills

• Experience supporting firewall implementations in supply chain, distribution, or multi-site environments
• Familiarity with change management processes in high-availability environments
• Experience supporting after-hours or weekend deployment activities

Work Style / Role Expectations

• Ability to execute time-sensitive firewall changes during scheduled cutovers (often outside standard business hours)
• Comfortable operating as the primary firewall resource during deployments, including troubleshooting and real-time decision-making
• Strong coordination skills when working with distributed teams during implementation windows
