Job description

This Oxford based scientific company are developing cutting edge GreenTech. Their experimental approach is furthering knowledge and commercialisation of technology for worldwide impact. Their software team work closely with their science teams, and support overall company goals., As a Graduate Software Engineer, you would work on core software development and software performance which would include code reviews, continuous integration, deployment, quality control and software testing. Key focus will be on fluid dynamic solvers using geometric libraries using C++11. Further, supporting tech stacks will include code in other languages (Fortran and Python).

Requirements

  • Degree (2.1 or above) in computer science, physics or similar (preference is for relevant postgraduate qualifications).
  • Experience programming in C++ and Python (C++ experience will ideally include work with modern C++, good use of data structures, multi-threaded code, OpenMP and/or MPI). Further experience with scientific Fortran would be desirable.
  • Exposure to agile software engineering processes.
  • Demonstrable project experience developing software for CFD or hydrodynamic code applications (or other physics simulation code) - ideally within a team setting.
  • Experience developing software on Linux systems.

Due to the nature of the work, this role is onsite (no remote working is available). Interested candidates should have full rights to work in the UK indefinitely. Graduate visa holders will not be considered. This role will utilise your knowledge and technical understanding to write software for scientific applications. It is not a role requiring machine learning or AI understanding. Demonstrable experience can be through extensive university projects, internships or home projects. University module coursework experience is not sufficient.
