Job description
The Avionics Systems Engineer is responsible for the overall system architecture and design of avionics systems. This position plays a key role in defining Aspen’s next generation of avionics systems and ensuring the goals of these systems are achieved. The position will drive the vision of Functionality, Usability, Integration and Value into every aspect of the design and ensure that the resulting product is commercially competitive and differentiated., * Responsible for the System Architecture, System and Software Requirements as well as Verification and Validation of avionics products.
- Interface with marketing, sales, and field support to assess needs for new capabilities and product improvements for existing and new customers.
- Coordinate with software, hardware, mechanical, and test engineering teams to ensure seamless integration and traceability across the development lifecycle.
- Interface with external organizations to enable the Integration of Aspen products with equipment supplied by other companies.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of engineering processes, tools, and best practices.
- Prepare and present technical briefings and design documentation for internal and external stakeholders.
- Perform other duties as requested by the VP of Engineering.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED, required.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, required.
- 5 years of engineering experience in the design of embedded systems, including at least one technical lead role.
- Strong Technical and Communication skills.
- Project Management and Leadership Skills.
- Ability to work in diverse, cross-functional teams.
- Good understanding of aircraft and avionics operation.
- Experience in avionics system design and FAA certification processes, including ARP4754, ARP4761, DO-178C standards.
- Private Pilot experience desirable.
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Standing and sitting for extended periods of time.
- Lifting up to 50 pounds in a safe and prudent manner.
- Ability to easily move through an approximately 45,000 square foot warehouse building.
- Ability to read, write, and understand English.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Correctable vision and hearing.
- Ability to work on-site full-time to perform functions of the job., * Do you have a bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field?
- Do you have at least 5 years of experience designing embedded systems?
- What is your level of experience with FAA certification standards (ARP4754, ARP4761, DO-178C)?
- How many years of experience do you have working with avionics systems?
- Have you been responsible for system architecture design in a previous role?
