Senior Platform Engineer (Infrastructure DevOps)

A large oil and gas company is seeking a Senior Platform Engineer to lead infrastructure automation and platform engineering initiatives within the Midstream IT organization. This role is ideal for an engineer who combines deep infrastructure expertise with modern DevOps and Infrastructure-as-Code practices.

Important: This is not a cloud-first DevOps role. The team is looking for candidates with strong experience supporting on-premises infrastructure, data centers, and highly segmented network environments, while driving automation, reliability, and self-service platform capabilities.

What You’ll Do

• Design and implement infrastructure automation, CI/CD pipelines, and platform engineering solutions.

• Build and maintain Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) frameworks for provisioning and managing enterprise infrastructure.

• Drive platform reliability, scalability, performance optimization, and operational excellence.

• Lead troubleshooting, root cause analysis, disaster recovery planning, and system resiliency initiatives.

• Develop self-service infrastructure capabilities, automated provisioning solutions, and platform tooling.

• Partner with architects, engineering teams, and business stakeholders to define platform strategy and roadmaps.

Provide technical leadership, mentor engineers, and lead design and architecture reviews.

• Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.

• 5+ years of platform, infrastructure, systems, or DevOps engineering experience.

• Strong experience with:

• Data centers, servers, storage, virtualization, and enterprise networking

• On-premises and highly segmented environments

• Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible, OpenTofu, CloudFormation, or similar)

• CI/CD pipelines and automation

• Platform engineering and self-service infrastructure solutions

• Monitoring, reliability, and production operations

Cross-functional leadership and stakeholder engagement * Azure DevOps, GitLab, Jenkins, NetBox, Itential, or NetBrain

• Kubernetes platforms and API-driven provisioning

• Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices, including SLIs/SLOs

• Software-defined networking (SDN), Network as Code, and Zero Trust architectures

Operational Technology (OT) environments and PERA model knowledge

4 days onsite in Denver, CO, Findlay, OH, or San Antonio, TX

Salary Range:

Grade 11: $106,900 - $133,700 - 12% - ACB

Grade 12: $122,900 - $153,600 - 15% ACB

401k: $1.17 for every $1, up to 6%, 100% vested on start date

Pension: 7%, 9%, or 11% contribution, vested after completing 3 yrs of service
