Job description
The Earthwork & Grading Foreman is responsible for supervising field crews and coordinating daily earthwork, excavation, grading, utility, and site development operations on heavy civil construction projects. The Foreman ensures work is performed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project plans, specifications, schedules, and quality requirements., * Plan, coordinate, and supervise daily earthwork and grading operations.
- Direct operators, laborers, truck drivers, and subcontractors to achieve production goals.
- Interpret project plans, specifications, grade stakes, and survey information.
- Coordinate excavation, embankment, grading, stabilization, and utility installation activities.
- Monitor elevations, slopes, drainage patterns, and grade tolerances.
- Schedule labor, equipment, and materials to support project objectives.
- Conduct daily safety meetings and enforce company safety policies.
- Identify and resolve field conflicts, utility issues, and production challenges.
- Coordinate with project management, survey crews, inspectors, and subcontractors.
- Monitor productivity and maintain daily production reports.
- Ensure compliance with environmental requirements, erosion control measures, and permit conditions.
- Verify completed work meets project specifications and quality standards.

Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of heavy civil construction experience as a Foreman.
- Strong knowledge of excavation, grading, utility installation, and earthwork operations.
- Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, and grade information.
- Experience managing crews and heavy equipment operations.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Valid driverâs license required.
- OSHA 10-Hour Construction Certification is preferred.
- CPR/First Aid Certification is preferred., How many years of heavy civil construction foreman experience do you have? Do you have experience supervising crews in earthwork, grading, or excavation operations? Do you have experience working with survey crews, grade stakes, and elevation control? Have you operated or directed heavy equipment operations in the field? Do you have experience scheduling and coordinating labor, equipment, and materials? Have you led daily safety meetings (toolbox talks) on construction sites? Are you familiar with OSHA construction safety standards? Are you comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions? Are you able to work overtime, nights, weekends, and travel as needed? What is your experience level managing crews on heavy civil construction projects? Are you legally authorized to work in the US?*
