Trissential is partnering with a leading healthcare organization to bring on an Application Architect who will define and scale inpatient video visit and virtual care platforms across hospital environments.

In this high-impact role, you’ll shape the architectural foundation for secure, reliable, and patient-centered virtual care-working at the intersection of clinical workflows, enterprise architecture, and cutting-edge telehealth technology.

Your Role & Responsibilities

  • Define and maintain target-state architecture for inpatient video visit and virtual care platforms
  • Develop multi-year architecture roadmaps aligned with enterprise digital health strategy
  • Design end-to-end integrations across EHRs, IAM, scheduling, bed management, patient portals, and clinical communication tools
  • Establish interoperability patterns using HL7, FHIR APIs, and event-driven architectures
  • Evaluate and govern vendor-supported telehealth platforms for scalability, security, and architectural fit
  • Architect secure data flows that meet HIPAA, HITECH, and NIST cybersecurity standards
  • Define standards for bedside devices, mobile carts, tablets, and audiovisual peripherals
  • Guide hybrid cloud and on-prem deployment models, ensuring high availability and disaster recovery
  • Lead architecture reviews and maintain logical, physical, and integration documentation
  • Partner closely with clinical leadership, nursing informatics, IT operations, biomedical engineering, and digital product teams

Requirements

Do you have experience in Technology security practices?, Do you have a Bachelor’s degree?, * 8+ years of experience in healthcare IT, including 3+ years in solution or application architecture

  • Proven experience designing architectures for vendor-supported SaaS platforms in regulated environments
  • Strong knowledge of HL7, FHIR APIs, and healthcare interoperability standards
  • Experience with identity and access management, API architecture, and integration patterns
  • Deep understanding of HIPAA compliance and healthcare security requirements
  • Ability to translate clinical needs into scalable technical architectures

Bonus Points If You Have

  • Hands-on experience with inpatient telehealth or virtual care platforms
  • Familiarity with Epic or Oracle Health (Cerner) ecosystems
  • Experience architecting cloud-based healthcare solutions (Azure, AWS, or GCP)
  • Exposure to device management, clinical IoT, or biomedical systems
  • TOGAF, cloud, or healthcare informatics certifications

Education & Certifications You Need

  • Bachelor’s degree with 9+ years of relevant experience, or Master’s degree with 7+ years of relevant experience
  • Active Epic certification (any module)
