Building, maintaining, and optimizing scalable, high-performing data pipelines using dbt, SQL, and modern cloud technologies.
- Partnering directly with data analysts and business leads to understand domain requirements and turn raw transactional data into structured, actionable insights.
- Implementing data quality checks, monitoring pipeline health, and applying data management best practices to ensure high reliability across our global platform.
- Creating clear documentation, standardizing data modeling workflows, and maintaining clean codebases for long-term scalability.
- Continuously exploring and integrating new technologies, modern stack tooling, and AI solutions to optimize reporting workflows and improve overall data efficiency.
- Taking a proactive approach to your work and participating actively in global Agile teams (sprint planning, standups, and retrospectives).

This Junior Data Engineer role sits in our Enterprise Reporting department in Amsterdam, with a work model of 3 days a week in our Amsterdam office and 2 days working from home. It is a full-time, 1-year FTC position, reporting to Steven Rutter. Requirements
Hands-on Mindset: A strong drive to take ownership of projects, debug complex data issues, and continuously learn new techniques.
- A sense of ownership and a proactive approach, contributing to the teams success by full task ownership from inception to delivery.
- Core Data Engineering Principles: Solid foundational knowledge of relational databases, data warehousing concepts, ETL/ELT processes, and data modeling (e.g., dimensional modeling).
- Strong SQL Skills: Proficiency in writing, optimizing, and debugging complex SQL queries.
- Tech Curiosity: An innovative, exploratory mindset with an interest in leveraging modern data engineering tooling, automation, and AI solutions to solve data problems.
- Collaboration & Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders in a fast-paced environment.
- Basic experience with data visualization platforms such as Tableau.
- Hands-on experience or coursework with dbt.
- Familiarity with modern cloud platforms (preferably Google Cloud Platform / GCP, BigQuery, or similar cloud data warehouses).
- Familiarity with Python or version control systems (e.g., Git and GitHub/GitLab).
- Familiarity with orchestration tools such as Airflow or Dagster, and a desire to optimise workflows for stability and speed.
