Job description

The Enterprise China Management (ECM) team sits at the center of this effort, driving strategy and execution across Amex and EC. We work with internal and external partners to scale the network, expand acceptance, and provide differentiated payment experiences for customers in China. This is a high-impact team focused on delivering meaningful value for customers and partners while supporting the long-term growth of the business in China.

Role Overview

The Manager will support ECM across corporate governance, government and regulatory engagement, executive operations, and select strategic initiatives. This role drives core governance processes while contributing to broader strategic and innovation efforts.

The individual will lead high-quality execution across senior leadership forums, support executive-level engagements, and contribute to forward-looking initiatives, including exposure to AI-driven solutions and strategic projects. Working closely with the Director, this role requires strong judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to operate effectively in a structured yet evolving environment.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and run corporate governance processes, including Board and committee forums, ensuring high-quality, accurate, and timely materials for senior management and Board-level audiences

  • Develop clear, executive-ready communications (including presentations), with strong storytelling and attention to detail

  • Establish and maintain tracking mechanisms for decisions, actions, and priorities across governance and leadership forums

  • Coordinate government and regulatory engagement activities, including preparation and tracking of policy and regulatory developments

  • Support planning and execution of senior executive engagements, including market visits, leadership meetings, and external interactions

  • Provide PMO support across priority initiatives, tracking milestones, risks, and dependencies to ensure timely execution

  • Partner across teams to ensure alignment and execution across Amex and EC teams

  • Support strategic initiatives, including new growth and revenue opportunities, through research, analysis, and structured problem-solving

  • Contribute to continuous improvement and innovation, including identifying and leveraging technology and AI solutions to enhance effectiveness, We back our colleagues with the support they need to thrive, professionally and personally. Requirements

  • 5-8 years of relevant experience in management consulting, corporate strategy, governance, investment research or a similar function within a global organization

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to develop executive-ready materials and clearly articulate complex ideas

  • Strong analytical and structured problem-solving skills, with the ability to synthesize insights into actionable recommendations

  • Demonstrated intellectual curiosity and ability to independently learn and navigate complex topics

  • Strong ownership mindset and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality work in a fast-paced environment

  • Comfort with technology and interest in AI and emerging tools; willingness to learn and apply these in a business context

  • Ability to influence without authority and work effectively across functions, levels, and cultural contexts

  • Willingness to work across time zones and travel as needed

  • Bachelor’s degree is required
