Job description

The Gameplay Capture Artist will be responsible for the creative and technical work to prep, direct, and capture gameplay moments and concepts for bespoke Star Citizen social media content. Informed by our Social Media and Development teams, your mission will be to show off the world of Star Citizen in fun, shareable, and community-first ways through content such as multiplayer gameplay clips, community highlights, short-form video (TikTok/Reels/Shorts).

The ideal candidate is a person with a strong passion for internet culture, community, and quick-turn creative storytelling, with an exceptional eye for what makes players stop scrolling. This position will be part of the Social Media team while reporting to the Sr. Social Media Manager and working alongside the wider Gameplay Capture team.

Founded in 2012, Cloud Imperium Games creates cutting-edge videogames that defy expectations. We’re currently developing Star Citizen, a record-breaking multiplayer online space sim, and Squadron 42, a cinematic single-player adventure set in the same universe. Join us as we break boundaries and make videogame history.

Gameplay Capture Artist role:

  • Capture bespoke gameplay content for the Star Citizen socials via game development builds and utilizing Nvidia ShadowPlay and OBS Studio.

  • The Social Media Team has a dedicated video editor, so in this role, you’ll focus specifically on gameplay capture

  • Be willing to hop into community-organized events to capture content we then spotlight on social

  • Work with other Gameplay Capture artists to organize and take part in multiplayer capture sessions.

  • Work directly with developers across teams to learn about new features, environments, ships, and other content worth showing off.

  • Spot the “clip-worthy” moment - the joke, the glitch-turned-meme, the community in-joke, the hype-worthy reveal - and know how to package it for social.

  • Pitch your own content! In this role, we’re looking for someone who can bring ideas to the table that sit at the intersection of trending formats and what the community loves about Star Citizen.

Requirements

  • Knowledge and experience with game capture or live action filming.

  • A good sense of social/internet culture - timing, trends, memes, and what makes content shareable.

  • Willing to learn internal capture tools

  • Understanding of cinematic filming fundamentals: framing, shot types, camera movement, depth of field, camera shake, lens choice, etc.

  • Comfortable editing for short-form/vertical formats a plus.

  • Able to take direction while also bringing your own creative instincts to the table.

  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to QC your own work.

  • A deep interest and passion for video games, internet culture, and community.
