Overview

Application Architect

Location: Knutsford (2-3 days onsite)

Contract Duration: Until 30 September 2026

No sponsorship offered.

Contractor eligibility: BPSS

Responsibilities

Design and deliver end-to-end architecture for modern digital applications
Define technology stacks, platforms, and integration patterns
Contribute to and influence the technology roadmap within your domain
Ensure adherence to architecture, security, and governance standards
Produce architecture artefacts and participate in governance forums
Partner with product and business teams to translate requirements into solutions
Provide technical leadership, mentoring teams and promoting best practices

Required Skills & Experience

Proven experience architecting distributed systems (microservices, REST APIs, cloud-native solutions)
Strong hands-on expertise with AWS, Azure, or GCP, including migration strategies
Solid software engineering background (e.g. Java, Python) with Agile delivery experience
Financial services domain experience, ideally within payments, cards, or digital channels
Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills
Strong problem-solving mindset with the ability to balance business and technical trade-offs

Requirements
