Job description
The Design Engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams to transform customer and product requirements into innovative, manufacturable solutions while ensuring performance, quality, and cost objectives are achieved. This position is 100% onsite in Owatonna, Minnesota. Seeking candidates with 3+ years of experience. There is an opening for a mid level engineer and a senior level engineer., * Lead product design and development activities from concept through production launch
- Develop detailed customer, product, and functional requirements
- Create 3D CAD models, assemblies, and engineering drawings using SolidWorks
- Perform engineering calculations, tolerance analyses, and design validation activities
- Utilize Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to evaluate and optimize product performance
- Design components and assemblies for injection molding, die casting, and other manufacturing processes
- Conduct and participate in Design Reviews, DFMEA, and risk assessments
- Develop prototypes and oversee prototype evaluations
- Support Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and cost-reduction initiatives
- Execute product testing, validation, and accelerated lifecycle testing
- Provide technical leadership for product improvements and customization efforts
- Support manufacturing implementation and continuous improvement projects
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, or a related engineering discipline
- Minimum of 3 years of product design or product development engineering experience
- Advanced proficiency with SolidWorks
- Experience with engineering analysis and FEA tools
- Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, materials, and manufacturing processes
- Ability to lead projects and work effectively within cross-functional teams
- Excellent communication and technical documentation skills
Preferred
- Experience designing products utilizing injection molding and die casting
- Familiarity with products, equipment, or applications related to the construction industry
- Experience with DFMEA, DFM, validation testing, and prototype development
- Knowledge of product lifecycle management and new product introduction processes
- Strong problem-solving and continuous improvement mindset
