Job description

The Staff, Software Engineer plays a critical role in delivering scalable platform capabilities and driving the full software development lifecycle, including design, coding, testing, deployment, and maintenance. This position leads technical execution aligned with strategic roadmaps, applies cloud-native architecture principles, and integrates AI/ML solutions to enhance platform functionality. The role involves mentoring engineers, influencing architectural decisions, and collaborating across teams to translate complex requirements into actionable solutions. The W+ team designs and develops scalable, cloud-native AI-powered systems that enhance operational reliability and performance. They lead technical strategy and execution across platforms, ensuring architectural integrity aligned with enterprise standards. Focused on continuous improvement, the team automates processes and optimizes system scalability. Collaboration and mentorship foster knowledge sharing and high-quality delivery. With expertise in AI agents, reliability engineering, and payments industry solutions, the W+ team advances innovative technologies that align with business goals and customer needs, driving impactful and reliable software solutions.

What you’ll do:

  • Deliver platform capabilities including infrastructure, tooling, and ML frameworks aligned with roadmap priorities to ensure scalable and resilient systems.
  • Lead full software development lifecycle activities such as coding, testing, deployment, monitoring, and maintenance.
  • Apply cloud-native architecture principles to enhance system agility and performance.
  • Conduct system design reviews to validate quality and alignment with architectural standards.
  • Build AI-driven applications integrating ML components and automation features.
  • Mentor engineers, influence technical decisions, and promote engineering best practices.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define technical requirements and track success metrics.
  • Drive continuous improvement through innovation, error correction, and knowledge sharing.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of professional experience in various elements of full stack software development - native mobile, web front end, back end, and hands-on coding experience in the past
  • Experience with full software development lifecycle, including coding, testing, CI/CD deployment, observability, and maintenance.
  • Previous knowledge of designing and developing advanced applications for the Android platform
  • Experience with Android SDK, Services, and various methods of background processing
  • Demonstrated technical leadership, mentorship, and collaboration across cross-functional teams.
  • Data-driven decision-making skills to define metrics and optimize engineering processes.
  • Adaptability to evolving technologies and complex system contexts., Outlined below are the required minimum qualifications for this position. If none are listed, there are no minimum qualifications.

Option 1: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 4 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.

Option 2: 6 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.

Sunnyvale, California US-11658: The annual salary range for this position is $143,000.00 - $286,000.00

Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.
