Job description
Insight Global is looking for a Data Engineer to support a Chemical Manufacturing customer of ours. This position will be a 6-month contract-to-potential-hire and can sit remotely for an all-star candidate.
This individual will join the company’s Data Engineering team, a newly formed team and practice reporting directly to the Director of Data & AI. This role will play a critical part in leading the migration from SQL Service into Snowflake including:

Partner with business stakeholders, analytics teams, and engineering teams to understand data requirements and design scalable data solutions.

Build and maintain end-to-end data pipelines that move data from source systems to analytical-ready datasets.

Transform transactional and operational data into curated datasets that support reporting, analytics, and future AI use cases.

Design and develop data models, semantic structures, and business-facing datasets that enable meaningful insights and reporting.

Support migration and modernization initiatives involving Snowflake, Microsoft Fabric, and related cloud data technologies.

Maintain and enhance existing solutions while contributing to net-new development efforts.

Apply strong logical reasoning and problem-solving skills to troubleshoot issues, optimize workflows, and improve platform stability.

Leverage AI-enabled development tools and modern engineering practices to improve productivity and accelerate solution delivery.

Requirements
3+ years of Data Engineering experience building end-to-end data pipelines from source to business consumption
o Experience designing analytical-ready datasets, data models, and reporting-focused data structures
o Experience designing and implementing business-facing analytical data products, including business-rule modeling, semantic layers, dimensional modeling, and dataset design for reporting and analytics.

Experience with ADF, DBT, or similar data orchestration/transformation tools - Python

Microsoft Fabric (OneLake, Synapse, Data Factory, Power BI)

Databricks
-
Dynamics 365 CRM and ERP (F&O)

Experience building semantic layers, data marts, dimensional models, fact/dimension tables, or business-facing data products

AI tools and concepts (GitHub Copilot, Claude, ChatGPT, etc.)
