Job description

One-line purpose:

You’ll play a key role in designing, building and evolving the applications and services that power our platform, working across back end technologies.

This role sits within our Engineering Team.

And works closely with Product Managers, Designers, QA Engineers and our Engineering teams in both the UK and India to deliver secure, scalable solutions that directly improve patient care.

Primary impact:

  • As a healthcare platform, quality, reliability and security are fundamental. You’ll help build software that protects sensitive patient data while providing fast, intuitive and resilient digital experiences., * Design, build and maintain scalable backend services using Node.js and TypeScript.
  • Build secure RESTful APIs and integrate with internal and third-party services.
  1. Engineering Excellence * Write clean, maintainable and well-tested code. * Participate in code reviews and architectural discussions. * Help improve engineering standards, tooling and development practices. * Contribute to automated testing and CI/CD pipelines.

  2. Security & Quality * Build secure applications using modern authentication and authorisation approaches. * Ensure solutions meet GDPR and healthcare security requirements. * Consider security and privacy throughout the software development lifecycle.

  3. Collaboration * Work closely with Product Managers to understand business requirements. * Collaborate with engineers across the UK and Bangalore. * Participate in Agile ceremonies including planning, refinement, reviews and retrospectives. * Share knowledge and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement.

Bonus Responsibilities

  • Full Stack Development
  • Develop modern, responsive user interfaces using React and Next.js.
  • Deliver features across the full software stack, from database through to user experience.
  • Monitor application health and performance using modern observability tooling.

Requirements

  • Commercial experience developing production software using Node.js and TypeScript.
  • Strong understanding of REST APIs and distributed systems.
  • Experience working with PostgreSQL or other relational databases.
  • Familiarity with AWS cloud services.
  • Experience using Git and modern CI/CD pipelines.
  • Strong understanding of software engineering best practices, testing and code quality.
  • Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills.
  • Strong communication skills and experience working within Agile teams.

Nice to have

  • Infrastructure as Code using Terraform.
  • Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Event-driven or microservices architectures.
  • Observability platforms such as Datadog, New Relic or OpenTelemetry.
  • Experience building healthcare or other regulated software.
  • Knowledge of AI-assisted development tools and modern engineering workflows.

Desirable - Full Stack Experience

  • Experience building modern frontend applications using React.
  • Experience with Next.js.
