Job description

This position will generally work within normal business hours, however, may need to work outside of these hours occasionally., Under the general guidance and direction of the Head Librarian, the Access Services Manager supervises and manages the daily operations of Access Services including all circulation functions for all full-time and part-time classified staff members and student assistants at the Parham Campus Library. As a member of the Library Management Team, the position coordinates and produces statistical reports for library activities, coordinates technology lending at one location, and oversees and supports materials processing operations for the Reynolds Libraries.

This position provides a full range of paraprofessional library services that require a high level of decision-making and independence, utilizing general knowledge of library practices. The position also assists with the management of the supplies budget.

The Access Services Manager supports the library’s strategic priority to collaborate internally and externally to make equity-conscious decisions and develop data-informed strategic plans to maximize impact at the college, group, and individual levels. The position is committed to meeting students where they are without judgment and providing support that promotes equity and success.

Special Assignments

May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.

Requirements

  • Considerable knowledge of library organizations, procedures and statistical reporting requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise campus library operations and team projects, staff schedules & calendar management.
  • Demonstrated ability to train and direct the work of others independently.
  • Considerable experience in providing a high level of customer service with external and internal customers.
  • Demonstrated ability to utilize an integrated library system.
  • Considerable working knowledge of library functions and advanced level skills in areas that involve access services like interlibrary loan, management of loan life cycle, and collections maintenance.
  • Demonstrated ability to assist patrons in locating information in print & electronic formats.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, utilizing strong interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and related software.
