Job description

Our client is looking for a highly experienced Senior Network Engineer / Routing & Switching SME to support data center and enterprise network projects. This role will focus on routing and switching design, data center networking, and implementation of network projects, with an emphasis on Arista and Cisco environments., * Design and support routing and switching solutions for data center and enterprise network environments.

  • Serve as a technical SME for routing, switching, and data center networking.
  • Develop and review network designs, configurations, diagrams, and implementation plans.
  • Work on network infrastructure projects including deployments, migrations, upgrades, refreshes, and expansions.
  • Configure and troubleshoot Arista and Cisco switches and routers.
  • Support Layer 2/Layer 3 networking, including VLANs, trunking, STP, EtherChannel/port channels and routing.
  • Work with routing protocols such as BGP and OSPF.
  • Participate in data center implementations, cutovers, testing, and post-deployment troubleshooting.
  • Analyze complex routing and switching issues and provide technical solutions.
  • Collaborate with network engineers, infrastructure teams, vendors, and other technical stakeholders.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to other network engineers when required.
  • Maintain network documentation, standards, and implementation procedures., * 50% Routing & Switching projects / design
  • 50% Data Center routing & switching projects / design
  • Hands-on deployment: As required, including periodic data center implementation, configuration, testing, and cutover activities.

Important: This is not a purely hands-off architecture role. The engineer should be comfortable getting involved directly in network deployments and troubleshooting when required.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with data center routing and switching, network design, BGP/OSPF, Arista switching, and enterprise network deployments. The role will also participate in hands-on deployments and troubleshooting as needed., * 10+ years of enterprise network engineering experience with strong routing and switching expertise.

  • Strong experience with data center networking and network design.
  • Hands-on experience with Arista switching, preferably production Arista EOS environments.
  • Strong Cisco routing and switching experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of BGP and OSPF.
  • Strong Layer 2/Layer 3 networking knowledge.
  • Experience with VLANs, trunking, STP/RSTP, EtherChannel/Port Channel and high-availability networking.
  • Experience participating in network deployments, migrations, upgrades, and cutovers.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work as a routing and switching SME and independently provide technical solutions.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work 100% onsite in Milpitas, CA.

Preferred / Desired Skills

  • CCIE preferred.
  • CCNP with 10+ years of strong routing/switching experience will also be considered.
  • Experience with Cisco Nexus and/or other data center switching platforms.
  • Experience with VXLAN/EVPN, MLAG, VPC or spine-leaf architectures.
  • Experience with large-scale data center network environments.
  • Experience with network refresh, migration, and infrastructure modernization projects.
  • Experience with network monitoring and troubleshooting tools.
  • Experience working in multi-vendor environments such as Cisco and Arista.
  • Experience creating or reviewing HLD/LLD, network diagrams, MOPs and implementation documentation.
