Job description

We’re proud to have been helping our clients build better financial futures for over 50 years. How have we achieved this? By working together - and supporting each other - all over the world. So, join our Technology team and feel like you’re part of something bigger.

About your team

The pace of change across financial services continues to accelerate, driven by cloud adoption, digital transformation, artificial intelligence, increasing cyber threats, evolving regulatory obligations, and changing customer expectations. The Enterprise Architecture team plays a critical role in ensuring Fidelity’s technology landscape remains secure, resilient, scalable, and fit for the future. Operating across business, technology, data, and security domains, Enterprise Architecture provides strategic direction, governance, and assurance to ensure change initiatives deliver sustainable business outcomes while effectively managing risk.

The AI Architecture function is responsible for defining and governing Fidelity’s enterprise AI architecture, establishing AI capabilities, reference architectures, standards, patterns, controls, and operating principles that enable the responsible adoption of AI at scale across the organisation.

About your role

As the Lead Enterprise AI Architect, you will be accountable for defining and governing Fidelity’s enterprise AI architecture strategy and target state. You will establish the architectural foundations required to enable AI-enabled business transformation while ensuring solutions remain secure, compliant, explainable, resilient, cost-effective, and aligned to enterprise objectives.

You will act as the senior architectural authority for Artificial Intelligence across the organisation, providing strategic leadership, governance, assurance, and challenge across business initiatives, enterprise platforms, technology programmes, and innovation activities.

The role is responsible for defining and evolving enterprise AI capabilities, including:

· Generative AI and Large Language Models (LLMs)

· Agentic AI and autonomous systems

· Machine Learning and predictive analytics

· AI-enabled business processes and automation

· Knowledge management and Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG)

· Enterprise AI platforms and shared services

· AI governance, risk, compliance and assurance

· AI observability, monitoring and model management

· Responsible AI and ethical AI practices

You will define enterprise AI architecture standards, patterns, guardrails, and reference architectures covering areas such as:

· Agent architectures

· AI application patterns

· Model lifecycle management

· Prompt engineering practices

· AI integration and orchestration

· AI security and resilience

· AI data governance

· Human-in-the-loop controls

· Model evaluation and testing

· AI platform engineering

Working closely with Data Architecture, Security Architecture, Risk, Legal, Compliance, and Technology Engineering teams, you will ensure AI solutions are designed and delivered in accordance with enterprise standards and regulatory requirements.

A key responsibility of the role will be establishing and operating enterprise AI governance, including architecture review processes, policy compliance, technology assessments, AI risk controls, and assurance activities. You will oversee the evaluation and approval of AI technologies, vendors, models, platforms, and frameworks to ensure alignment with Fidelity’s strategic and regulatory obligations. You will also lead enterprise horizon scanning and emerging technology assessment activities, monitoring developments across the AI landscape including foundation models, agentic systems, AI engineering practices, quantum-enhanced AI, synthetic data, reasoning models, autonomous operations, and evolving industry standards. You will translate these developments into actionable strategic recommendations, technology roadmaps, investment priorities, and architectural guidance for senior leadership.

The role will play a critical part in shaping Fidelity’s long-term AI strategy by identifying opportunities to accelerate business value while ensuring appropriate governance, risk management, and operational control.

Requirements

  • Significant experience in Enterprise Architecture, Solution Architecture, or AI Architecture leadership roles.
  • Strong knowledge of generative AI, machine learning, LLMs, RAG, agentic architectures, and AI platform ecosystems.
  • Experience defining enterprise architecture standards, patterns, and governance frameworks.
  • Strong understanding of AI risk, security, privacy, compliance, and Responsible AI principles.
  • Experience operating within regulated financial services environments.
  • Strong strategic thinking, technology leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to executive audiences.
  • Experience assessing emerging technologies and translating innovation into business value.
  • Proven ability to influence large-scale technology transformation and enterprise change.
