Job description

The Health Economics Data Analyst is responsible for supporting financial and operational integrity through the accurate extraction, validation, analysis, and reconciliation of healthcare and financial data. This role focuses on Plan-to-Plan (P2P) activity, claims and encounter data, invoicing, and inter-entity financial transactions to ensure alignment with contractual requirements and payment structures. The Health Economics Data Analyst works cross-functionally with Finance, Revenue Management, and Member Services to deliver reliable data insights that support business operations, financial reporting, and decision-making. The position requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage complex data from multiple systems in a regulated healthcare environment. Perform data extraction and validation from multiple sources. Performance Standards:

  • Accurately extracts required data from multiple sources within established timelines.
  • Validates data for completeness, accuracy, and consistency, promptly identifying and correcting discrepancies.
  • Maintains proper documentation of data sources, queries, and validation steps to ensure data integrity and audit readiness.
  1. Analyze Plan-to-Plan (P2P) data, including inter-plan transactions, cost sharing, and financial reconciliation between entities. Performance Standards:
  • Analyzes data accurately and in accordance with organizational and regulatory requirements.
  • Identifies variances, trends, or discrepancies in inter plan transactions and cost sharing arrangements.
  • Communicates findings clearly and supports reconciliation efforts to ensure timely and accurate financial settlement between entities.
  1. Review and reconcile invoices and claims-related financial data, ensuring alignment with contracts and payment structures. Performance Standards:
  • Reviews invoices and claims related financial data for accuracy, completeness, and contractual compliance.
  • Reconciles discrepancies efficiently, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders as needed.
  • Ensure reconciliations are completed within required timeframes and supports accurate financial reporting.
  1. Extract, transform, and analyze data from multiple sources (claims systems, data warehouses, financial systems). Performance Standards:
  • Effectively extracts and transforms data from claims systems, data warehouses, and financial systems to support analysis and reporting needs.
  • Apply appropriate data transformation techniques to ensure usability and consistency.
  • Produces reliable analyses that support operational, financial, and regulatory decision making.
  1. Partner with Finance, Revenue Management and Member Services teams to support business and operational needs. Performance Standards:
  • Collaborates proactively with Finance, Revenue Management, and Member Services to understand data and reporting requirements.
  • Provides timely, accurate, and relevant data insights to support business operations and decision making.
  • Responds professionally to requests and maintains effective working relationships across departments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Finance, Data Analytics or Computer Science.
  • 2+ years of experience in data analysis, preferably in a managed care or payer environment
  • Experience with SQL and advanced Excel
  • Experience working with encounter/claims data
  • Experience with financial data analysis, invoicing, or reconciliation processes
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
