Job description

Koniag Advisory and Business Solutions, LLC, a Koniag Government Services company, is seeking a Cloud Data Architect (Snowflake), SME to support the Digital Workplace workforce by designing, integrating, and optimizing enterprise cloud data capabilities. The successful candidate will provide senior technical leadership for Snowflake architecture, data modeling, data pipeline integration, performance optimization, and secure data sharing across mission and business systems. This role requires the ability to translate operational data needs into scalable, governed, and supportable cloud data solutions that improve analytics, reporting, and decision support. Work will be performed at the client’s facility or customer approved remote locations during Eastern Time core business hours.

The Cloud Data Architect (Snowflake), SME will serve as the senior technical authority for Snowflake-based data architecture and integration within the Digital Workplace environment.

Principal responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Design and implement Snowflake architecture patterns that support data integration, analytics, governance, performance, security, and operational sustainment.
  • Develop target-state data models, data flows, schemas, warehouse structures, and integration patterns for enterprise and program data sources.
  • Guide the integration of Snowflake with data catalog, visualization, identity, security, and workflow platforms used across the Digital Workplace ecosystem.
  • Establish technical standards for ingestion, transformation, storage, access control, data sharing, metadata capture, and lifecycle management.
  • Support performance tuning, cost optimization, workload isolation, warehouse sizing, query optimization, and platform monitoring.
  • Collaborate with governance, cybersecurity, infrastructure, and application teams to ensure data solutions align with federal security and compliance expectations.
  • Produce architecture diagrams, implementation guidance, data interface specifications, design decisions, and operational runbooks.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Engineering, Data Analytics, or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience.
  • 8+ years of experience in data architecture, cloud data engineering, enterprise analytics, or data platform implementation.
  • 4+ years of hands-on experience designing or implementing Snowflake or comparable cloud data platform solutions.
  • Experience supporting enterprise data integration, governance, and analytics environments in complex stakeholder settings.

Desired:

  • SnowPro Advanced Architect, SnowPro Core, or comparable cloud data certification.
  • Experience supporting federal government data environments, including security, privacy, and compliance controls.
  • Experience integrating Snowflake with data catalog, BI, workflow, and enterprise identity platforms., * Expert knowledge of Snowflake architecture, data modeling, warehouse design, security controls, query performance, and cost optimization.
  • Strong understanding of ELT/ETL patterns, data pipelines, APIs, structured and semi-structured data, and data quality controls.
  • Ability to define practical architecture standards that engineering teams can implement and operations teams can sustain.
  • Experience with cloud services, identity integration, role-based access control, logging, monitoring, and secure data sharing.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain technical data architecture decisions to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance.

Desired Skills and Competencies:

  • Experience with Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud data services used with Snowflake.
  • Experience with dbt, Fivetran, Matillion, Informatica, Airflow, or comparable data integration tools.
  • Knowledge of data governance, data lineage, metadata management, and master/reference data practices.
  • Familiarity with Agile delivery, DevSecOps, infrastructure as code, and automated deployment patterns for data platforms.4
