Job description

As a Principal Software Engineer here at Honeywell, you will play a critical role in the design, implementation, and management of complex systems and solutions that drive innovation, safety, and efficiency in the aerospace industry. You will work within cross-functional teams on cutting-edge projects that transform the way aircraft operate. You will report directly to our Director of Engineering, working out of Phoenix, AZ location on a Hybrid work schedule.

In this role, you will impact the development and delivery of cutting-edge solutions that support Honeywell’s aerospace initiatives, helping to drive innovation and maintain our leadership in the industry., On our team, you will have the opportunity to work on next-generation and new product development projects, directly contributing to the advancement of aviation technology in the Airborne Traffic, Collision Avoidance & Surveillance Avionics space. You will have ownership for systems engineering development at every aspect of the systems life cycle.

  • Lead a team of software engineers, providing technical guidance and mentorship on critical technology projects.
  • Drive customer engagement while delivering programs on schedule, within scope, and on budget.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define software requirements and specifications
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and mentor team members.
  • Design, develop, test, and maintain high-quality software solutions in accordance with project specifications.
  • Conduct code reviews, identify areas for improvement, and implement best practices
  • Ensure the timely and successful delivery of software projects within scope and budget
  • Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in software engineering
  • Ability to code in multiple languages.

Requirements

  • Bachelors or Masters in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or another related field.
  • Minimum 12 years of experience working in various application areas supporting Avionics functions, Navigation and Airborne Surveillance (TCAS, Transponder, ADS-B, DME, UAT).
  • Strong proficiency in programming languages such as C, C++, Assembly
  • Experience with software development tools, version control systems, and continuous integration/deployment pipelines.
  • Deep understanding of software development best practices, design patterns, and architecture principles.
  • Ability to manage project risks and implement mitigation strategies effectively.

The annual base salary range for this position is $190,000-213,500 . Please note that this salary information serves as a general guideline.
