About Recovery Cafe San Jose

Recovery Cafe San Jose is a healing community of support and services for people recovering from addiction, homelessness, mental health challenges, and other kinds of life trauma. Our unique model of radical hospitality and loving accountability empowers stabilization, personal growth, and a renewed engagement with life.

Position Summary

The Resource Specialist / Systems Navigator provides one-on-one support to Café members in navigating housing, public benefits, re-entry, healthcare, and other challenges to wellness, stabilization, and recovery. Successful candidates will be organized; computer literate/savvy; detail and outcome oriented; and be experienced with using AI and/or navigating Santa Clara County services. 20 hours per week to start.

Key Responsibilities

  • Meet with Café members to address housing navigation, shelter access, and housing applications
  • Support members in accessing public benefits and community resources
  • Help members obtain identification documents, transportation resources, and practical daily living supports
  • Provide re-entry navigation support for individuals transitioning from incarceration or court involvement
  • Conduct resource referrals and warm handoffs to behavioral health, healthcare, housing, and social service providers
  • Maintain accurate notes, referrals, and program documentation
  • Collaborate closely with internal staff and external partner organizations
  • Participate in outreach, resource fairs, and partner coordination activities as needed
  • Help foster a welcoming and supportive community environment

Qualifications

  • Spanish fluency is required; Vietnamese is a bonus.
  • Experience in case management, peer support, housing navigation, social services, or related human services field preferred
  • Knowledge of Santa Clara County housing, benefits, behavioral health, and community resource systems strongly preferred
  • Lived experience with recovery, homelessness, re-entry, or systems navigation valued and encouraged and valued
  • Strong computer, organizational, and follow-through skills
  • Ability to work effectively with vulnerable and diverse populations
  • Trauma-informed and culturally responsive approach required
  • Commitment to Recovery Café’s mission, values, and culture of radical hospitality and loving accountability is required
