Job description

A Sports Stats Specialist is responsible for collecting, analyzing, and reporting statistical data for sports teams, athletes, and events. This role involves maintaining accurate records, interpreting data trends, and providing detailed statistical reports to support team strategies, media coverage, and fan engagement. This position is ideal for individuals with a passion for sports and a keen interest in leveraging data to enhance team performance and fan engagement. The Sports Stats Specialist plays a crucial role in the success of sports teams by providing the analytical insights needed to make informed decisions., * Data Collection: Gather real-time data during games and events, including player performance metrics, team statistics, and game outcomes.

  • Data Analysis: Analyze collected data to identify trends, patterns, and insights that can inform team strategies, player development, and performance improvements.
  • Reporting: Create detailed statistical reports and summaries for coaches, players, media, and other stakeholders.
  • Present findings in a clear and concise manner.
  • Database Management: Maintain and update statistical databases, ensuring accuracy and completeness of all records.
  • Software Utilization: Use specialized software and tools to record and analyze sports statistics.
  • Stay updated on the latest technology and methods in sports analytics.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with coaches, analysts, and other team staff to provide data-driven insights and support strategic decision-making.
  • Quality Control: Ensure the accuracy and reliability of all statistical data by conducting thorough checks and validations.
  • Research: Stay informed about industry trends, new statistical methods, and advancements in sports analytics.
  • Conduct research to enhance the quality and scope of statistical analysis.
  • Game Preparation: Prepare pre-game statistical packages and post-game reports, including player statistics, team performance metrics, and historical comparisons.
  • Compliance: Ensure all data collection and reporting activities comply with league regulations and standards.
  • Perform all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED.
  • Experience: Previous experience in sports analytics, statistics, or a related role is preferred.
  • Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in statistical software and tools (e.g., Excel, R, SAS, SPSS).
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Knowledge of various sports and their specific statistical requirements.
  • Attributes: Passion for sports and data analytics.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Flexibility to work irregular hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, depending on the sports schedule.

Benefits & conditions

This role will pay an hourly rate of $15.00 - $20.00.
