Job description
We are seeking an Entry-Level Data Center Technician to support the installation and maintenance of structured cabling, fiber infrastructure, and equipment within critical data center environments. This contract-to-hire opportunity provides hands-on training and mentorship while building experience in the telecommunications, low-voltage, and skilled trades industries. The role involves fiber and cable installation, cable management, equipment installation, infrastructure buildout, and adherence to established safety standards. This is a construction-focused position rather than an IT support role and requires the ability to work extended shifts and mandatory overtime as needed., * Perform structured cabling and fiber infrastructure rough-in.
- Dress, route, organize, and label cabling according to installation standards.
- Perform cable and fiber termination.
- Rack and stack customer equipment.
- Assist with server rack buildouts and rack elevations.
- Install fiber trays, ladder racks, power trays, cabinets, and related infrastructure.
- Receive materials and assemble required hardware.
- Perform Outside Plant (OSP) installation, including routing fiber into data center facilities.
- Read and follow blueprints and installation plans.
- Follow written and verbal instructions while maintaining professional communication with colleagues and management.
- Maintain a clean and organized jobsite.
- Follow all applicable safety guidelines, PPE requirements, and OSHA protocols.
Requirements
- 0-2 years of Data Center Technician, structured cabling, low-voltage, construction, or related skilled trades experience.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- OSHA 10 certification preferred.
- Construction or skilled trades background preferred.
- Ability to read and follow blueprints and installation instructions.
- Ability to work on ladders and scissor lifts and within confined spaces.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and move materials weighing up to 75 pounds.
- Ability to stand and work on your feet for the duration of the shift.
- Ability and willingness to work 10-12 hour shifts, 5-6 days per week depending on project and site requirements.
- Willingness to work mandatory overtime as required.
- Openness to travel is preferred but not required.

Additional Job Details (Commute, Attendance, etc.)
- This is a construction and low-voltage infrastructure position, not an IT support position.
- Work schedules may consist of 5-6 days per week with 10-12 hour shifts depending on the assigned project or building.
- Overtime is mandatory when required by project needs.
- Travel is not required, but willingness to travel is considered a plus.
