Sr Network Security Engineer

An employer is looking for a Remote Sr Network Security Engineer in the United States. We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Network Security Engineer / Subject Matter Expert (SME) to lead the design, implementation, and optimization of enterprise network security solutions. This individual will serve as the technical authority for network security architecture, firewall strategy, secure access technologies, and application delivery platforms across a complex enterprise environment., The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in Palo Alto and Check Point firewalls, Zscaler Zero Trust architecture, Cloudflare WAF, and F5 Load Balancers. This role requires a hands-on engineer who can also function as a strategic architect, driving security initiatives while supporting operational excellence., Security Architecture & Design

• Lead the design and implementation of enterprise network security solutions and security architectures.

• Develop secure network segmentation, micro-segmentation, and Zero Trust strategies.

• Evaluate emerging technologies and provide technical recommendations aligned with business and security objectives.

• Create security standards, reference architectures, and best practices.

Firewall Engineering

• Serve as the subject matter expert for enterprise firewall technologies.

• Design, deploy, optimize, and troubleshoot complex firewall environments.

• Develop and maintain security policies, NAT rules, VPN configurations, IPS protections, and traffic inspection standards.

• Perform firewall rule reviews and security risk assessments.

Zero Trust & Secure Access

• Lead Zero Trust initiatives leveraging Zscaler technologies.

• Design secure remote access and internet access architectures.

• Implement and optimize secure web gateways, CASB, and cloud security controls.

• Support identity-driven security strategies and secure application access.

Web & Application Security

• Design and administer Cloudflare WAF solutions.

• Develop web application security policies, protections, and threat mitigation strategies.

• Collaborate with application and infrastructure teams to secure externally facing applications.

Application Delivery & Load Balancing

• Design, implement, and support F5 BIG-IP solutions.

• Configure and optimize load balancing, SSL offloading, application delivery policies, and high-availability environments.

• Troubleshoot application performance and traffic flow issues.

Security Operations & Incident Response

• Provide advanced troubleshooting and escalation support.

• Participate in security incident investigations and remediation efforts.

• Conduct security assessments and vulnerability reviews.

• Recommend improvements to reduce organizational risk.

10+ years of experience of network security engineering experience

• Experience designing enterprise security solutions from concept through implementation

• Advanced expertise with Palo Alto and Check Point Firewalls

• Experience with Zscaler Zero Trust/ ZIA/ ZPA

• Experience Cloudflare WAF

• F5 load balancer experience

• Excellent communication skills with the ability to present technical solutions to executive and business stakeholder - Firewall certifications - Palo Alto, Checkpoint, Zscaler

• Bachelors Degree

• CISSP certification
